I think Behrendorff was sick which meant Cummins had to stay.

That is one of the worst World Cup squads I have seen on this forum.
No Shaun Marsh, no Coulter-Nile, two wicketkeepers and a part-time wicketkeeper, no Lyon and three bowlers struggling for fitness.
Now that the Pakistan series is over:
The squad I would select
Finch, Khawaja, Warner, Smith, Maxwell, Handscomb, M Marsh
Cummins, Starc, Jhye Richardson, Zampa
*****
S Marsh, Turner, Hazlewood, Lyon
Missed out:
Stoinis, Carey, Coulter-Nile, Behrendorff, Kane Richardson
The squad I think the selectors will choose:
Finch
Khawaja
S Marsh
Handscomb
Maxwell
Stoinis
Carey
Warner
Smith
Cummins
Starc
J Richardson
Zampa
Hazlewood
Lyon
I'm sorry, has everyone suffered a collective memory wipe re: Mitch Marsh?
Finch
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Maxwell
Wade
Cummins
Pattinson
Starc
J. Richardson
Zampa
S. Marsh, Coulter-Nile (or one of about six bowlers), Turner, Faulkner
Would rather go with 5 genuine bowlers instead of an all rounder like Stoinis or M. Marsh. It's worse for team balance but those are the bowlers I think can be genuinely damaging whereas I'm not confident any all rounders we have would actually do much. And Cummins, Pattinson and Starc can actually swing a bat too and Richardson and Zampa aren't mugs. Faulkner and NCN can bat too. Faulkner in the squad for his death bowling and the fact that he's a different sort of bowler to the others.
Big watch on Finch's ability to play a ball that swings, S. Marsh could easily come in. Turner there in case we need another finisher. Don't think Wade's form is a fluke.
Left out popular picks like M. Marsh, Stoinis, Handscomb, Behrendorff, Carey and Hazlewood because I don't know that they offer to much that the others don't already offer.
Lyon and K. Richardson unlucky.
Finch
Warner
Khawaja
S.Marsh
Smith
Handscomb
Maxwell
Stoinis
Carey
Cummins
NCN
Starc
Richardson/Hazelwood (whoever is fittest)
Beherendorff
Zampa
That would be my guess.
Finch (c)
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Maxwell
Stoinis
Handscomb (wk)
Cummins
Richardson
Zampa
Hazlewood
Starc
Carey
S Marsh
Coulter-Nile
I personally wouldn't take two wicket-keepers unless one of them was Wade (who, on form, doubles as a genuine batsman, as does Handscomb) but the selectors have made it obvious that he's not part of the international set-up, and equally that Handscomb and Carey are. Quicks pick themselves. S Marsh surely makes the trip given number of games he's played recently, selectors love him. Also, to be fair, he was probably our number one ODI batsman for a patch there.
Only point of contention for mine is Stoinis v Turner. Both have that destructive capacity you want to see at 6 - Stoinis more experience and can bowl so probably gets the nod though I do rate each one highly.
Yeah since I posted I realised that you never really need 7 gun batsmen. Might as well play a specialist keeper there who can focus on pinch-hitting, rather than confusing Handscomb whose natural game is very different.Nuts if Starc isn't in your first side. He's easily ahead of Richardson. Unlike Richardson he can actually bowl a yorker.
If Handscomb is batting 7, you are better to play the better keeper, and that's Carey. Handscomb goes as a batsman anyway. Would double as a keeper if there is an injury to Carey only.

Personally I would never start an ODI without Starc but the selectors love Richardson and his form is great. Can easily see Starc missing out but that's not my preference.
