Marsh shouldn't be missing out, his form has been very good as well, and extends much farther back than Khawaja's.

On form those two shouldn’t even be competing for a spot. They should be locks. Unfortunately, selectors will take the plunge and hope Warner comes good and Finch has shown no desire to try himself anywhere else other than opening so one of them will miss out.

Read an article today at work in The Australian which picked up a comment Langer made that they are considering not playing the specialist all-rounder. Will try find it, but good to see that it's noted that Stoinis' selection isn't a fait accompli given his struggles of late and the strong performances by our batsmen.

Langer saying today that if fit (has a slight glute injury) Warner is going to open and it comes down to Khawaja v Marsh for the last spot.

The same Warner who has made 1 50 and 1 hundred in his last 3 ODI series and done sweet * all in the Warm up matches? Yuck. 1 50 in 4 warm up matches and he was dropped twice on zero in that innings.

Thought I just heard before Khawaja in, Marsh only in if Warner isn't right to go

Langer said if Warner isn’t fit then both Shaun Marsh and Khawaja play, but if Warner is fit, which I believe to be the case now, then it comes down to a decision between Marsh and Khawaja.

I do agree, however, it did sound like Khawaja had the front running.

That being said, I have a feeling we will see changes to the batting line-up throughout the World Cup.

It should probably be Finch v Marsh fighting for a spot at the moment. Got way more trust in Khawaja than I do in Finch and he's just undeniably in better form at the moment, he shouldn't even be in the conversation for getting dropped at the moment.

so what do ppl see as our best side the one named tonight against Afghanistan or a few changes

Surprised ppl want marsh in the side surely he’s had enough chances

You clearly don’t follow cricket. Marsh has averaged 54 at a strike rate of 91 with four centuries since his return to the one-day side in 2018. Khawaja failed again today at no.3 where he averages 24 with the bat.

Marsh has had a million chances in every form of the game the quicker he is banished for good the better

Don’t let research stand in the way of your bias.
Well actually he was correct. Khawaja and Finch were 1 and 2 in runs before the game in 2019.

Shaun Marsh is an excellent ODI cricketer. Averages a century every 7 ODI's over his career. Marsh has hardly had a go at ODI cricket despite this.

I don't think we should get too carried away by the Black Caps first-up performance.

It was only against Sri Lanka.

Sure the bowling performance was clinical perfection. Sure the batting was flawless.

Sure the win was emphatic.

Let's not get too carried away with ourselves.

Mitch Marsh should have been in the initial squad. Common sense finally prevails. Now if a bowler goes down pick Handscomb... Or Agar (as a bowling A/R)
