So the Celts made 32 FGs. Rondo made 2 of them. And he got 17 assists.

17 assists from 30 FGs, and from the stats, only 5 of the FGs came from true drives to the basket.

This guy is a freak.
 
phoenix would be kicking themselves as he was originally a suns pick.........the ideal replacement for nash. a few years ago a mate that goes for boston used to blow his load over rondo before he had done anything and during the time his shooting was woeful.......thought he was just being biased at the time. i was wrong rondo = stud
 
I remember when the big 3 got together in Boston and KG came out and said Rondo would be the best young PG in the game soon.

Everyone laughed at him.

He's gotta be up there, sure there are flaws in his game (Same goes for Williams and Paul), but he is a seriously good player.
 
Despite the lol factor 'Shaq is still playing?' if they can keep him fit for the pointy end of the season him and Rondo will be an awesome combination. Couple of nice alley's thrown up in the first qtr.

I think the lack of a jumpshot is the only thing holding him back from being the best PG in the NBA or at least in the same category as Williams and Paul. If teams weren't able to sag off him it's scary how good he'd be.

Not really. He was never going to get in front of Nash and given his penchant for attitude, he would have asked for a trade anyway. Dragic will be more than a handy replacement for Nash when the sad day comes when he gives it away.

Is now the without doubt the best player on the Celtic squad.

I noticed the sagging in the Miami game a lot, Wade was giving him 5 meters. He could have had foul line jumpshots every time if he wanted them but he can't shoot.

I don't rate Rondo at all, it would be easy for any PG to run an offence with absolutely no defensive pressure. Any decent PG could get that number of assists if they had as much ball with as little pressure as Rondo gets. But because most PG's can shoot they don't get the luxury.

Having your defender sag and take up space/defend others makes it easier to get assits.

Smarty! Which other decent point guards will get 17 assists this season? Averaged 9 assits in the playoff last year where I think he would of encountered some type of defensive pressure??
 
Kidd got 18 today, but he's a gun, also Dirk shot the lights out and I assume all 11 FG's were from Kidd dimes.

Anyway, Rondo is a machine and he shot a 3 today!

Lets not forget how useless he is on defence too......

Definately needs to work on his jumpshot which is terrible, but the rest of his game is top quality.

He was so impressive. Went anywhere he wanted and very clever always creating a passing angle or just bombing a big skip pass. If he could hit pull up jump shots he would be top 5 in the NBA but until he can score 20+ points he is just a really good player not 'super' star.
 
Where I was coming from is that he dominated the boston offence. The majority of their baskets came through him. Perhaps a higher % than any other PG in the league.

I was a hater for a long time (tough for me to like a Celtics player) - but he has overtaken the Boston Three Party to be the MVP of their current team.
 
He's good but he does constantly have a stack of HOF guys to pass to. Pierce anywhere, Ray off a screen, KG PNP, Shaq anywhere near the ring. It's not like he's passing to Ariza, Bellineli, West, Okafor.
 
If this guy was at Orlando they would have had 3 rings by now, imagine Rondo feeding Dwight,Lewis and Redick and throw VC penetrating and the Magic would be a lock.

Really the funniest thing I've read. Ever played basketball? If defenders tried to pressure Rondo he would go around them so easily and quickly.

As for the Rondo gets assists because he has HOF players that is a load of crap.

For starters Shaq is the oldest player in the league. Ben Wallace has enough offence to finish off the passes Rondo hands to him.

Also, I'd say except for the Paul Peirce transition 3 that he likes to shot, Rondo would get very few assists from Peirce as he often uses lots of dribble and therefore it isn't counted as an assist.

Don't tell that to the Magic fans on here! Most of them say they'd rather pair Nelson with Dwight.

Nelson would have just about the highest turnover rate of any starting pg over the last 4-5 seasons lol.. He schooled them today though!
