Review Roo "Adelaide's horror season"

I think he's been pretty generous accross the board there. Cant see how a D grade team has so many pass rated players.

Other than Danger no one should have an A, and only Thomo, Sloane, Douglas and Kerridge should have B's.

Lots of C's(+/-), but VB, Bernie & Reilly should be D's. These three for me have been clear fails in 2013. Should be our most consistent performers and just arent.

Yes, I thought Roo was being kind to a few on the list. Jacob's a C, I don't think so
I reckon both Talia & Truck have been very good this year and deserve at least a B.
But overall, the senior guys have not performed as well as last year.
But it's been great to see some youngs guys coming in and playing well and give you some hope for the near future but their form does fluctuate from good to bad.

Roo obviously thinks we are worse off that everyone else thinks. You would think he still has contacts at the club. I didn't agree with the Sloane call, but there isn't much in his assessment that doesn't ring true.

  • How many games had kerridge played when he sunk north? these things happen, doesn't mean much, likely more of a testament to how poorly we played on the day.
Yep pay that as a forward yes, but he isn't going to kick 6 if we can't get it to him because we can't get it out of the midfield. I'm not worried about the teams below us. Its the top six which we haven't been able to beat.
  • Nah, I really think we are potentially a future midfield powerhouse. You mentioned danger, dougy, and Sloane, but you can throw crouch and lyons onto that list in my opinion (although they're unproven, but you can just tell they will be guns), and I still believe wright will one day find consistency and really become a champion ball-winner. Bernie vince might pull his finger out and step up (has shown glimpses of old form), and we have all given up on old d-mac but he is only 24. Smith, keridge and laird all look to have potential in the middle also. I hear good things about aidan riley and mitch grigg, and weve just drafted atkins who's a great prospect. Things aren't so bad, just a little underdone. A couple of quality free agency acquisitions would go nicely though, but really, when wouldn't they?
That word potential...do we have the coaches atm that can bring out that potential? Apart from Sando, Bailey and Milburn I still don't rate the other three to develop our next potential stars.
  • 4th youngest 22 in the comp, it happens. we expected too much and we all sort of knew we were doing it.
If it was just the youngsters that were the problem it wouldn't bother me as much, but its not.

  • dude, in the last 12 seasons, we have made the finals 9 times, including 4 prelims, with 3 different coaches. are you telling me that as a supporter, you are unhappy with that? we are blessed to support a club that is so good at turning over its list and making finals. some clubs haven't played finals for years, we seem to always be around the mark, even with these youngsters, and its just a matter of time before our day comes. please remember that roo works for the media, not for football, not for the crows, his job is to attract attention.
Yes I am proud of what we have achieved over such a long period. I am not unhappy at all, but I would think due to this success as a club I feel that we have failed to take our chances when they were there.
We really should have played at least a couple of GF in that time. In 06 we should have won the whole thing so dominant we were and 4 losing prelims shows we still need to find that extra step.
Because of this success as a supporter I want the club to do everything possible to get us to our third GF, what has happened over the past few years hasn't helped and has taken us backwards in some areas. I don't think we should be happy we being around the mark, its going to get harder and harder to win a GF as every team searches for that edge. We should be looking at all angles not hoping the potential of late picks can get us our third cup.
Roo works for the media sure, but his heart would still belong to the club and would want it to have success as much as anybody else.

there is no way to coach better to avoid narrow prelim losses, its just how the dice rolls. Calls for improved administration, coaches, and players is clearly an embittered reaction to a poor few months of footy.

Its always been hard to win flags, the game has changed no end, but don't tell me its any harder to win flags.

sadly seasons like this happen, but again the Crows will not be in a position to benefit from it (by draft picks) again.

I am really not looking forward to the inevitable season that we don't win more than 4 or 5 games. I wonder what the club will do then, or how we'll miss out on draft picks that year.

oh god, why are you thinking that way?

that has never happened, 7 is our worst.

I don't agree with the bolded part. Coaches like players earn their reputations in finals.
I think if you ask any professional, in any walk of life, there is always something you can do better

Calls for a new administration are clearly not an embittered reaction to a poor few months of footy. I'd say it has more to do with going 15 years without making a Grand Final, and the higher ups of said administration being exposed as cheats, and incompetent cheats at that.

3 years ago you had to beat 15 teams to win a flag. Now you have to beat 17. I'd say that makes it a little bit harder to win a flag.

Last year, probably not. But if we go back to 05- 09 there were common themes in finals losses.

but we've won 2 in 17 years, and made finals 9 times in 12 years with 4 prelims? yeah, disgraceful.

go and support port, they've made 2 gfs in the last 15 years

you don't deserve the crows

We did have four games against expansion teams last year which were virtual gimmes. So it evens out.

When the expansion teams are consistently competitive, it will be harder.

well they haven't been much competition yet

Still the same finals once you make the 8, but youre right, that it will be harder overall once the expansion teams come on. Im hoping gws does a fremantle and becomes a shameful expansion, but not likely.

These were my ratings I did, in about 3 minutes. Again, done on individual expectations, age, experience etc. C is a pass, so players that have been disappointing compared to last year are likely to get a D.

I like yours better than Roo's, that's for sure.

If GWS prove as hard to beat at home as Freo have to us, then we are in for a world of pain.

How about you go and **** yourself :)

huh, he even has the rapier wit of a port supporter.

Why bother when you're obviously a troll, and a poor one at that?

a troll? damn that word gets misused a lot.

Im just disgusted by so many peoples disloyalty to the club after some (very) poor form. Its this kind of idiocy that gives our supporters a bad name.

So, im takng it upon myself to patrol the streets of crowtown, exiling the whinging, non-believers to a club where they will fit in a bit better.

C'mon, go to port Adelaide, don't you know they were established in 1870?

So you're having a whinge about people whinging then? Genius!

Perhaps if more supporters of this club questioned what the administration was doing, we wouldn't be in the situation we are now. But you go ahead and continue to support an incompetent cheat, and attempt to instill a misguided with us or against us mentality amongst those stupid enough to listen to you.

you don't chop and change an administration that consistently has us playing finals because of some bullshit. Look at eddie at Collingwood.

stupid people do that, people like...

You mean like when we tossed away the best recruiter we've ever had for making an off the cuff remark in a private meeting?

When has Eddie McGuire ever cost Collingwood one of their best players for nothing and brought draft sanctions against the club?

Never, that's when.

Are you sure you aren't Trigg?

This from a legend of our club has to be the biggest reason why the board has to take action.
We are going to need a free agent miracle and some more kids named Rory drafted at pick 47.

More than five games...Crouch only 4
On JJ...Roo make the call to Carey...while he's here maybe he can teach Smack a thing or two as well.
We need the legends of the club to get in here and help the coaches, because I still think our panel just aren't up to it when the going gets touch
Exactly right - last year we had the spike, this year we have become deflated because of a spike.

Just require some tweaking to the game plan and an exorcism or two wont hurt either :thumbsu:

It takes a huge effort to win 17 games but when you lose by less than a kick in a preliminary final, it hurts the players so much they lose belief. It hurt Kurt Tippett so badly he went to Sydney for more money and a premiership too.

The season was over before it began. We have had so many chances over the years and we blew them, esp 05 to 09.
