Did anyone else hear that Roo actually thought his body was done last year and he wanted to retire but because of the whole Ben Hart saga the club begged him to go around for one more to save face?

Not sure how true that is but it wouldn't surprise me. Sadly the greatest Crow of them all is done :(

He's finished, so sad, but I guess all good things must come to an end. :(

Thanks for the memories Roo :thumbsu:

Slow down people. IMO Roo will play the second half of the season.

ADELAIDE captain Mark Ricciuto was confined to bed on Tuesday with an acutely sore neck.
Ricciuto is already out for at least the first few rounds of the season because a back injury and now he has been placed in a brace and told to rest after his neck became increasingly uncomfortable.
While the exact cause of the ailment remains a mystery, there is a chance Ricciuto has suffered a reaction to the epidural he was given last week to ease pain in his back, which has kept him off the training track for the past month.
The midfielder has endured a frustrating 18-month period in which he has had to deal with hamstring tendinitis, a rare virus, back trouble and now the neck complaint.

The side will benefit enormously from this time without Ricciuto. For so long he's been our heart and soul; we've got the opportunity to find our new team lifting champion.

I said if the epidural had touched a nerve, it COULD paralize him. I never said it WILL. Read posts properly before replying.
perhaps "Dr"Troy (who is acutely sensitive of any Crow posting on his beloved Port board) could explain the pathophysiology of such an injury. Equally he could take his ill informed commentary elsewhere, because an epidural to the lower back could cause a meningitis but could not paralyze him as "Dr" Troy suggests

Apologies from me for doubting the early posters for saying that the problem was far worse than originally reported. :o

We must have run over a multitude of black cats with the luck we've had with serious injuries of late. :(

At least they are at the right time of the year; every club has to have X amount of injuries for the year and we are just getting our out of the way now.

Hopefully by round 12 all the injuries are out of the way and we can turn the corner at 6 wins and 6 losses (5 and 7 worst case scenario) and we can come home with a wet sail.

Sigh. I hate these "indefinately injuries. You never know if he's going to get better or is it even gonig to get better. I wish him all the best.

Worked for us last year after all :(

What do you want me to say; our season is ****ed even before it has even started so we should just give up now?

Maybe I like to be optimistic rather than pessimistic but hay as long as you can take the piss…its’ all good.

My immediate reaction when I read this thread was that it might have something to do with the epidural Roo had last week. Having had a couple of epidurals and three spinal taps in my life, I know that side effects can and do happen. Do we actually know where Roo received his epidural (ie. between which two vertabrae)???

Whatever the cause, it is NOT looking good (for Roo). :(

Between L3 and L4 off memory.

There was something reported that it was not as a result of the epidural.

I'm no doctor but wouldn't this have affected him a week ago?

This has been a little project of mine , but I feel the treatment of hamstring injuries is treating the symptom and not the cause

Looking at the body as a connection of muscles we see the back and neck and buttocks and also neck all connected. With the over emphasis of strength work , especially upper body, of which Roo looks to typify, ie strong chest and shoulder muscles with a lower body mass, it looks to me that the over emphasis on upper body has caused the lower body, back and legs to suffer.

Its then doubly compounded when your off your legs due to hamstring issues that you naturally reach to keep the upper body conditioned. I wonder if the AFC have looked into this a bit more . I am available for consultation :D

There's been some good players go down (for various reasons) this pre-season, Thompson, Bradshaw, Farmer, Cousins, now Ricciuto

I hope they all come back and play good footy

There is no right time of the year to have injuries, as wins are as important now as they are at anytime of the season, dont win games now and you make it harder for the rest of the year, games must be won to make the finals simple as that.
