Least the midfielders are quick though, my only critiscism of our midfield would be its pace.
and accountability and toughness at clearances

I'm thinking of our new midfield here, Sylvia, McLean, Jones, Moloney, Johnstone.

All not the quickest

I think we are worrying far too much about pace.
St.Kilda- Not the quickest midfield, yet one of the best.
Geelong- See St.Kilda.
Brisbane- Aka is quick and Lappin runs all day but after those two they aren't that fast.
Hawthorn- One of the best midfields in the comp based on the starting three in the centre square (Hodge, Mitchell, Crawford) but belted us in the middle this year.

The pace worry is because since WCE have a quick midfield and the Bulldogs are quick everyone is trying to emulate them.
I'm not worried about pace at all. We can throw Flash in there from time to time (On a wing mind you not in the middle) and Bell is very quick as well though I see him becoming a nuggety type player who I hope can tag.
Sydney are slow as well, but they won a flag because they were tough and accountable. That is the real issue with our midfield. If we fix that we'll be top 4.

I've played on Gianfagna. I think I got as many touches as him, although he was more damaging.
Very quick, on one occasion I was too tired to run with him, took about 3 bounces and set up a player inside 50. My coach wasn't too impressed with me.
But, on Gianfagna, he looked good, very quick and nicely skilled.

played against andre in footy and cricket and ran against him in athletics, the bloke is a pure athlete, good pick up for melb. lightning quick and a booming left foot, no right foot but had speed 2 get on his left, runs hard all day. cricket wise very fast left arm bowler and a fair slogger with the bat. athletics the bloke is a freak so quick and stron, for someone who is so good across three areas andre is a really polite and good bloke, good luck to him.... also got neaves who is an awesome bloke see him around frequently, very strong bloke and will be good at melb if given the chances. good luck to both of them.

Sylvia is actually quite quick.

I've seen plenty of players quick in the legs but thick in the heads. Barry Mitchel and Greg Williams were never quick. They just knew how to get the ball and use it.

Still, Davey looks good for onball position.

Sylvia has a very good football brain.
I'm not really worried about pace. Flash and Choppy will probably never start in the centre square but players that start in the square lose relevance after the bounce because everyone rushes in. Bell will probably go into the midfield as well and he is quick (Fingers crossed ND will use him as a tagger).
