What about Marlon Pickett Tigs?Had some issues in the past off field but is back on track.

Haven't seen him but needs more time in the WAFL at a guess. For starters he needs to become a regular I'd say.

If GWS do take Lamb and Collingwood pass as some have suggested, we effectively can have the first pick in the PSD. I'd prefer FJ go for the best young kid if that's the case (I think we did the same thing when selecting Grimes?).

Wonder if we will take Batsanis, Thomas or Bathie?

I think we will take one, or possibly two of Batsanis, Thomas, and Bathie in the Rookie Draft. Hoping Bathie and Thomas.

I'd like to see us go for Templeton and Wilson/Cameron in the PSD, although it has been reported we are interested in James Toohey, which is interesting as we have a plethora of Tall Utility types in Griffiths, Elton and Astbury.

Ok so im just confused, Quayle said we are going to pass on our PSD picks and go in with a 38 man squad. Does this mean we wont be picking up anyone at all tomorrow?

It means we will pass our 2 PSD selections. And use 3 rookie picks.

I'd love a speedy recruit - Wilson would be my preference but Batsanis wouldn't be bad either. I think we will take Thomas (as long as no one else plucks him before us).

I'm no draft watcher but from what others have said, I'd love either of Templeton or Battersby. Not too fussed about the knocks on their height. If they are good enough and tick every box (skills, attitude, character etc), they are tall enough IMO.

If social media is to be believed, Collingwood won't be using their PSD pick which means we will have the first 'live' pick if we choose to use it.

Really hope we don't pass, given our first rookie pick is pick 11 or 12, we can use the PSD pick to basically grab the best undrafted kid in the country if we want. We could nab one of the more fancied prospects if we want - whereas they are less likely to be available at our first rookie pick (unless FJ and co want to go completely left field and draft relatively unknown types).

If Doctors passed him and if determined good enough potential wise I would have a crack at Conlon in the PSD. We may not be able to get him in rookie if Pies supposedly interested and 1 or 2 years makes little difference with player of his type cause he will need a few years for him to develop to properly re-assess his potential.

It is alright to talk about talls next year but they may cost us too much on a risk reward basis plus may not fit our schedule for a premiership. The other thing highly likely at least one of Griff/Astbury/Elton etc.. will be moved on end of 2014 and depending on how TV and co go some could be traded off to if sent as the best for all parties.

The smaller guys with smaller learning curves particularly for physical development clearly more suitable for rookies

Emma Quayle tweeted the opposite 45 minutes ago

Emma Quayle tweeted that we weren't going to use it, what i was saying was that i stood corrected that we in fact have a pre season draft pick and could use it because before i didn't think we had one. So she didn't say the complete opposite because all she said was we won't use it but we do have a pick like i said.

Whats the point of not taking players in the PSD? Practically means we get first shot at the best young players passed on in the national draft.....

comes down to risk reward 2 years versus one plus pros and cons of picking up various players in 2014 draft IMO, likely delisting/trades etc.. end of 2014

Take someone in the PSD you're locked into them for 2 years, take them in the rookie draft and the commitment is only for that season. Also it doesn't count in the salary cap IIRC to take them in the rookie draft unless they are elevated during the year.

If we have pre determined our picks to be the Thomas,Batsanis,Bathie no point in useing the psd to select them and just take them as rookies (nobody els wants them)

I just hope that we do actually take either Wilson or Templeton with a psd and go for Sokol in the Rookie draft

I stand corrected, we do have a pick in the pre season dradt must have decided to go with 39 on our senior list this year.

Actually it says we have the ability to do it not that we actually use it. All clubs that don't have 40 senior players and have tpp room are eligible.

Exactly .Also we are up to the limit in the salary cap I would say .Our lack of dealings during trade week or should I say none.Other than Megan Gale's fella on the first day. Proved that. I didn't buy the reason given for not chasing Chapman to me our list age is the exact reason to get Chapman he was exactly the player we need in our team.(We just drafted his type) We could not afford him. Also explains our strong stance on Dusty.

Wasn't trying to say we would use it, more that we could use it while the main point was to say i stand corrected for thinking we didn't have one when in fact we do. Emma Qualye has already stated we won't use it so that eliminates the slim prospects of using it.

Yeah sorry that was the way I read your post ie that you were wrong in that we 'will' use a pick in the psd.

I think (and I may be totally wrong ) a number of our contracts are heavily front loaded for next year so that we have cap space at the end of next year to play a large part in free agency and trading. The list of free agents next year is far and away better than this year with some very big names available.

Callum Twomey saying we are looking at taking Banfield.
Lions have an earlier pick so up to them I guess

Maybe we like someone else that they like

RICHMOND has expressed interest in recruiting Brisbane Lions small forward Todd Banfield at Wednesday's NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

The Lions delisted Banfield earlier this month but committed to redrafting him as a rookie, however the Tigers are believed to be keen on the small forward.

The Lions are considering their position on the 23-year-old, given the club's first pick in the rookie draft comes before Richmond's.

I think & hope you are right. Hope we can land a Gun free agent next year that importantly fits our needs at the time. But our list is getting the depth that we can afford to get a real class act to help us win a flag.
