i have just realised that hughes is already taking up one of the "mature" rookie list spots and from iv heard you can only have 2? so that means we cant have hughes, meeson and newton...am i right or wrong?

I think Newton is under 23, meaning that he is just a regular rookie....
So we basically have none??? can someone please piss off either newton or spencer please!!!!

In relation to the rookie list of 09;
McKenzie-keep
Hughes-50/50
Spencer-Delist ( I can believe people rate him, he is the dopest player iv ever seen...everyone here does remember that fumble when lining up for goals agaisnt the roos?)
Hughes-Delist
Valenti- 50/50
Zomer: Delist
Leaving us with 2-3 rookie draft selections...
Each club can have 8 rookies, but if you have guys on the veteran list, you decrease the amount of rookies by that number...
We can't not rookie Newton & Meesen, it would cause a lot of bad feeling within the player group (lack of trust with Management), not a good time to go down that path.....
Wouldnt mind knowing what the club is thinking about all of this.
MFC please let us know if we are going to have any more excitement machines coming to our club via the rookie draft!!
FWIW - I'd like Panos, Patrick or Grimes if we are lucky enough to be able to get one of them. Gold coast have a few picks ahead of us in the rookie draft.
My understanding is GC will target slightly older/mature blokes ahead of there entry into the VFL
Delisting Spencer & Healey/Hughes in addition to our delistings up to this point, and drafting Patrick & Panos, would be a pretty good outcome I reckon.
But I doubt it'll happen...
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/87709/default.aspxIs there a third list lodgement, or is the list we have now the list we're taking into 2010?
Good, they can have Newton, then we can rookie Panos. And if Hawthorn nick Meesen (which could very well happen) we can draft Patrick/Grimes.
No, no, keep Healey, he has a lot more going for him than Hughes, that's for sure.
So we have to pass on our 1st n 2nd picks in the rookie draft and so on until messon and newton get picked up (hopefully) freeing us up for a selection, or do you think we'll know by the rookie draft if clubs are going to take them, therefore allowing us to use pick 6???
As i take it if we leave all our current rookies in place and taken meesen and newton we won't have anything spots left for any youngesters.
I feel at the very least Hughes will be delisted, he has been on the clubs development for 3 years, in which one of those years was spent not out list, but we still monitored his progress. If Newton can'y get a regular games hughes never will, so i think we should have one free spot for another youngster. We better take Meesen with our first rookie pick.

Hughes has a year to go on his contract so cant be delisted until after next season.
I hear from reports at the draft night function that it is literally a formality that McKenzie will be upgraded mid year. Apparantly the club would have done it already but he offered to sit on the rookie list for another half-season so that we could draft one more junior in the national draft (Fitzpatrick as it turned out).
Great effort from McKenzie if this is correct.
I know that, what i was trying to say is that if we dont delist any rookies on our list and are committed to newton and meeson and they dont get picked in the PSD or picks 1-5 from gold coast do you think we will pass on pick 6 hoping for either newton or meeson to get picked up by other clubs..therefore at least giving us some possibility of picking up a half decent 18yr old...or do you think we'll know hawthorn for example are after meeson therefore allowing us to use pick 6 on a youngster. OR do you think we'll just use our first 2 rookie picks on meeson and newton...
