Been trying to find out paran, but I haven't got to training yet, been working just about around the clock!

However, I've done a quick search of mycricket and he doesn't have any stats for this year. I expected him to go and play cricket, but that doesn't look like it's happening.....
tony nottes uncle is a famaily friend of our and he told us that he is quitting sports to focus on work with his father (i think its some kind of labour job, dont quote me on that bit) but definately not coming back anytime soon

Yep, had that feeling watching the kid at the end of the season and how it unfolded for him.

It is sad watching kids with talent that lack the drive and ambition.

Is it not hard to understand that playing footy, a game you love, and to get paid is a gizzillion times better than labour or office work, whatever he chooses.

It is a shame there are thousands of kids out there that try their guts out but are overlooked because they don't have the talent.

The game of football is played between the ears - an old cliche, I know, but so, so true. if you don't have the will to constantly push yourself to limits, all the skill in the world isn't going to get you there.
That's why I don't approve of the term hack, especially for our own players ... heeee.....eeeee. Anyone that puts on an AFL jumper and makes it deserves plaudits - these guys are athletic freaks and that is what makes our game the spectacle it is. Oh Jesus, bring on 2011.

Ive seen it a thousand times Archie.
A kid who has talent up the wazoo and has been proclaimed as a prodigy losses focas and interest and wants to be "Normal" and the kids who want to be superstars but dont have the talent end up being your every day joe bloggs.

Chris Judd as good as he is, I doubt would be the best player in the country if every prodigy had fullfilled their potentual. Their are probably better players out their that are not even playing. (i know bullsh*t right but wait)
Example-
I played cricket with a kid at a fairly high level who is probably without a doubt the best bowler I have ever faced, ( and Ive faced top line WACA playing bowlers) this kid was also at 1 time on the Swans Colts list at the same time, and had a huge future ahead of him. However he hated the limelight and hated the pressure of expectation so after quiting footy to play Only Cricket (thinking it would be less pressure) he found himself wanting to play in leagues well below his ability but the club wanted to play him at the highest level Possible as he would still dominate.
After last season he stopped training, stopped showing up to club functions and has now gone bush and started a "Crap" Job because their he is a Nobody and feels so much better about himself.
Thats fine, we all respect his reasons but as friends and Mentors we know that in 3 or 4 years when he does find his love of sport again it will be way too late and his surpreme talent has gone to waste.

Thats what I mean by better then Judd.

I believe it EA.

It is just hard to fathom that there was no support available to them to help them deal with the spotlight, or even how to avoid it.

There are alot of players out there that do this well. They avoid all media contact and just get on with their job.

Do they also understand that the spotlight won't last forever? When they retire they will subside back into mainstream and be able to get on with their life but with the memories and successes of being a professional sportsmen.

I would sell my soul to be a professional sportsmen and get paid bucketloads to do something I love.

Nathan Phillips punt anyone? I know he did his knee but worth a punt for our list or wait and see how he goes next season in 2011 after his reco?

Worth a punt.

Warwick Andreolli - damaging left footed winger who takes the game on.

He's not damaging at all. He doesnt have a classic left footers footskills, more of a hacking player. Lacks polish and isnt that quick over the turf.

There's a reason he wasnt drafted.

Would be happy with

B Wilson - PSD

T Chalwell, J Eades, T houlihan - Rookies

Blight would be a chance but he will go first round.
A KP, Small forward and wingman.

Would be stoked if it went down like this. Only problem is that we have all of our small forwards on the rookie list. Not much we can do about this until Hams gets upgraded.

Regarding Phillips...it's not really worth it.

He's going to miss a big chunk of next season regardless. If you want him, draft him next year - he isn't in high demand.

Will miss a month of football, maybe two.

Alot of smoke around him being rookie listed by a few clubs.

Very good footskills.

Phillips is worth the risk. He's so damaging even with only a handfull of touches he can really hurt sides. Kicks goals and gets plenty of assists. Give him a full year to recover and then work him in ready for 2012.

Not as critical of Andreoli. He isnt as quick as he looks but he's strong and when he gets himself steady he's usually a good kick.

Hey guys

Can anyone fill me in on what type of player matthew outridge is?

From the few things I have seen and heard, he seems like a classical inside midfielder.

Thanks guys

Medium paced, undersized inside midfielder. But he has good skills, isn't slow and has a solid work rate. He's the type that i would like to see at WAFL level before judging.

OK then, yeah he is kinda one of four guys I am keen on for Essendon to pick up, just trying to seperate them now.

Obviously Outridge, Mitch Gent - Dandenong Stingrays midfielder, Adam Marcon - Northern Knights Midfielder and Brad Harvey - athletic freak from Eastern Ranges.

Still plenty of small rangy guys left, but trying to get a feel for the best 'inside' midfielders left.

Any thoughts on who the top 10 midfielders are still left?

Played mainly outside, nice speed and clean skills.

Didn't get a heap of the pill but improved every game.

I like him.

Yeah, played the 4 games I see, averaged 11.75 disposals a game and also averaged 1.5 tackles a game. Have not actually seen him play but just wanted to know how he went.

You have obviously seen his few games?

Can you tell me, how do you think he could go stepping up to an AFL enviroment?

How is his ball use outside?

How is his attack on the ball inside?

Tackles hard? 1 %'ers?

Like I said to Royal Eagle, just trying to gauge him against a couple of other midfielders I like.

Can you give me a bit of an in depth bio on him? anyone?

I rate him above all those players left in the rookie draft, bar 3 or 4, and I would have taken him ahead of half of those selected from 40 onwards in the ND. And nothing to do with him being a Swans boy.

I think what we need is a spring-heeled-jack like Liam Jurrah, some real x-factor for half-forward or forward pocket. Then our squad would be pretty much complete. Are there any out there? I've heard Stevens name tossed about a bit - is he like Jurrah at all?

Jurrah's more consistent, but yeah, pretty similar. Stevens is also quite good on the lead and his vertical leap is quite spectacular. The mark he took in the U23 game was very similar to Sampi's, except Izzy is a foot+ taller.

Thanks for that Swannies. He sounds like our man then.:thumbsu:
Chalwell, Stevens and Houihan - I'd be happy with that as rookies.

I'd really like to see the lack of a seriously fast, skilled FP with some tricks addressed in the rookie draft so I hope Eades or a similar type player is selected. I think this type of player is still a gaping hole in the list atm. Lewis Broome is probably a long shot because of his size, ala Notte. Think B Wilson would be a good pick in the PSD as a talented player overlooked although the position he plays does not fulfill a need. Not so sure about Chalwell, can't see a role especially after the ND selections, i.e. a KPP and a ruckman/KPF, would prefer that more specific needs were met.
