No lack of support from my post, no condemning, just facts. Our list management model now puts disposal & decision making as paramount so unless he can do a 180 and change what he's doing then he's not gonna get a game, that's the bottom line.

I think this about sums it up. Next year is a couple of retirements, final middle list clean out (24-27yo), a couple of rookies who've had their last chance - for a couple of rookie upgrades, three more kids (first round pick not until at least high teens hopefully) and Pav on to the veterans list.

I think you will find that the reason Clayton Hinkley was retained, and may be retained for 2012 also, is due to the compromised drafts. Why would Fremantle free up more spots for pick 107 when they can get a pick about 20 spots lower as their last pick in future years?

I don't think Clayton Hinkley has been that impressive, but at least he's a known quantity and relatively young.

Yeah I agree with this, With the compromised drafts it's best to use the bare minimum in picks due to the diminished chances, it'll be another 3 picks next year.

I predict at least one of Grover & Roger to go, as well as Schammer & Hinkley to give us the 3 or 4 picks. Pav goes on the vet list and frees up another list spot to give us 4-5. then there's the possibility of some rookie prospects to be promoted, possibly taking our draft picks back down to 3. Due to the compromised draft the unthinkable MAY happen where one of the 4 might get a repreive of another year contract, to keep the list full to then jettison for the following draft.

he seems to be getting specialised skills training and goal kicking practice that the rest of the hopefulls arent getting.

That would be good news. He's just such a classy player, too good to not be in the AFL.

Will be interesting to see what happens on Tuesday. I've always just assumed that Monaco will get one of the spots, leaving one other for someone else. Menagola is a bit one paced, nothing that Bucovaz and Pearce don't already offer. I haven't seen enough of Evans to really comment, but it would be between the SA boys for mine.

I've never quite understood the idea that you keep players on your list so that you have someone to delist next time. Surely if your squad is chock a block full with decent players and you need to make some room, then you trade. Maybe not a happy example but Polak and pick 10 for pick 8 type of scenario.

If Hinkley had been delisted and was available in the RD, would he be your first selection?

y the way, I am fine with Hinkley on our list, but the above question still holds.

I will never give a hard time to a player that gives 100% IN fact DeBoer can be disappointing at times but I LOVE the way he plays the game. My beef comes when players of great skills/talents/speed do not try anywhere as hard and they are preventing the opportunity for young talent desperate to at least have a shot.

Schammer is a classic example. Everyone knows that he can be frustrating but I dont think that anyone ever doubts his application.

Hinkley however, is another matter. He has speed and some skill. No doubt that we have better players (Hill, Morabito Etc) but he is not(from all that I have seen) giving everything that he can to play AFL.

When Hinkley is just existing on a list and preventing opportunity for some young talent to come through it is disappointing.

That being said, the club MUST see something in him to have given him a contract to the end of 2011. Chris IS a very astute judge of talent and must also see something there that I (and a lot of other Freo fans) are missing.

Hinkley has his last chance in 2011 to prove himself or he will be gone. The outstanding rookie list that we had/have and the addition of quality players to the team in the draft will place additional pressure on him.

Ultimately, Crichton's accelerated development will be the obstacle that Hinkley will not be able to overcome. His determination, skills, speed and tackling ability is the same sized package are greater than Hinkley is just about every aspect.

Fremantle should be grateful for its outstanding team management over the last 3 years. In the past, players like Hinkley would be running around with the overpriced discards from other clubs (eg Stuart Anderson-a blast from the past) and Fremantle would be doing nothing but being stuck in the bottom eight.

It is a new dawn, it is a new day and Fremantle have a MIGHTY new jumper. Hinkley will have to REALLY produce to ever pull it on in battle. Quite frankly I hope that he reaches his full potential and plays in the way that we all hope that he can. I just think that he does not want it bad enough and there are LOTS of other players in front of him with much better skills, determination, ball finding ability.

Every team has a Hinkley type player-unrealized potential. The ball is in his court to see what he will do with his opportunity. I hope that you make the most of your chances in the future, Clayton Hinkley!

I thought Hinkley looked really promising as a run with player in the preseason stuff this year. Surprised he didn't get an outing but you can't complain about the players they are selecting.
I love that Harvey said recently there is no reason the new draftees can't get a game if they do the right thing on the track. As the man above said it's so refreshingly different from the old days when our team was practically a union that was harder to get into than out of.

Rankine is a double of Robin Na Has , small, quick, evasive but with poor disposal
Robertson the exact opposite,good size,extremely pacy and beautiful disposal
