Aren't we going to need a Rookie list spot for Sibosado also?

As we are using only one of our two veteran list spots (Grover), we are allowed to upgrade a rookie in the second veteran spots before the start of the season. This was the spot Barlow was elevated from.

Interestingly I notice on the clubs website, Sibo and Shepheard still listed as rookies where Ruffles, Buco, Brock etc are now listed as past players.

Unless we officially pick them up again, they are past players.

Delisted Fremantle players Tim Ruffles and Ben Bucovaz have been guaranteed AFL lifelines, with the club promising to re-draft them at next month's NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

Harvey said Fremantle would target players capable of pushing for senior football in 2011 with its remaining two rookie list selections.

Delisted midfielder Brock O'Brien, who has endured a long string of injuries, is also being considered for a rookie spot, but coach Mark Harvey said the club was waiting to see how his body stands up through the early stages of pre-season training.

Is there a "gentlemen's agreement" with the clubs to prevent Geelong possibly rookieing Bucovaz using a pick before Freo's? I see Freo have stated that they will take both Ruffles and Bucovaz but surely they can give no guarantee unless the other clubs refrain from picking them.

That's why the article says "if available"...i.e. if said players are not picked up by clubs before whichever picks the Dockers decide to use on them.

Personally some people believe there's a gentlemen's agreement, but I don't think there is, the only thing is that clubs prefer to pick players who will be happy to move there, but that's not really an issue if you're bringing a local back home. So no, no such agreement, the players have to run the gauntlet of the other 16 clubs. That said, Bucovaz, much as I like him, probably doesn't fit the player type we need to target for this draft, so I don't think Freo should be too worried about us poaching him.
