Can the name "Miles Sewell" please now be banned on this board? Or at least be rewarded with a yellow card?

Not selected today by anyone (even GC17 who might need a bit of experience) means maybe he's not as good as everyone thinks.

Some people even wanted us to pick him up in the ND!

So Lower is a midfielder ?... The Adelaide now website lists him as a midfielder. But FanFooty and Footwire list him as a defender.

Maybe they thought Lower would go to GWS, and when our first choice disappeared Lower was suddenly an option, another backup Defender/Mid now Hayden is out for half the year. I'll reserve my judgment on him. I trust our recruiters. :)

In some profiles it says he's known for his pace Scham

Mate, i've been known to be wrong on many occasions.

I'm just going on what I remember of him in his draft year and the games i've seen of him since whilst at Port. He never looked pacey to me and if he is quick, I wonder what the knock on him is? I mean he struggled to get a regular game at Port, got the flick, overlooked in the 09 drafts and is still available at pick 40 or something in this year's RD?

From what i remember he was a bit soft and a poor decision maker, albeit had good skills. A little one paced i thought...........

The odd Port supporter on their board joking that Choco cut him because he "went in too hard", as opposed to some of the soft players that Williams seemed to like.

He is 189cm, still only 23 ... so that sounds OK. I just can't remember how quick he is or what his skills are like. That article in this thread says he is "smooth-moving".

I would have thought the SANFL is a much better comp than the WAFL, so to come 2nd in the Magarey Medal is a pretty good effort. Not unhappy with this selection at all, could prove very useful in case of injury problems.

I don't think he's soft. Far from it actually, but I agree with your other points. Maybe "one paced" is a better descriptor than not quick.

I cant remember seeing him much so i may be way off the mark with the "soft call.

Sounds like a description of David Mundy.

Hmmm, a hard-nosed smooth-moving David Mundy.

I like it.

Hard at it but you're right about the decision making, by comparison Dodd was elite.

Maybe he was played out of position during his time at Port and has improved with age, but I wouldn't put too much by his SANFL form - like the WAFL there's a huge gap between it and the AFL, (e.g., look at how well Scham, Spud and Dodd do here!)

I read above someone thinks Nick Lower is slow. Here's his profile from a few years ago. Two things to note are his 20m sprint time and his "weakness - endurance". Getting 500 possessions in the SANFL this year would indicate he must now have some pretty decent endurance.

Details:
Club: Norwood
DOB: 23 June 1987 Hgt: 187cm Wgt: 86kg
Position: Half Forward
Natural Foot: Left
Draft Camp:
20m sprint: 2.93 sec (equal 5th)
Agility: 8.23 sec (10th)
Honours:
South Australian U18 2005
AFL Draft Camp 2005
Statistics:
2005 Under 18 Championships: 3 games, 1 goal, average 9.0 PPG
Background:
Midfielder who like his twin brother Ed, also cracked it for one senior game in the SANFL this year. Nick is a left footer (his brother uses his right) who measured in slightly taller than his twin brother at draft camp. Tested well in the sprints, but poorly in the jumping and endurance tests.
Strengths:
- Got leg speed
- Well skilled
Weaknesses:
- Endurance

If Lower's an inside mid, then my concerns about not getting an inside mid in the draft are diminished.

Good work, Freo. Glad Ruffles and Buco are back on board.

The Adelaide Advertiser has him as " A star onballer with 500 possesions, second in the league"

Pretty big wraps,

insurance for Palmer walking perhaps ?

Best of luck to Nick, he's a solid citizen, will not ever duck his head or pull out of a contest.

He should really be a midfielder, but maybe at AFL level, well it's an option, he isn't fast, but a respectable pace, takes a very good mark, but will have to work on his disposal in the faster paced AFL environment.

I reckon you blokes will take him to your hearts when you see him play in your colours, the type of bloke you watch and hope he succeeds, he will not ever let you down by lack of effort.
