The upgrade could be so they can name him as an emergency for the game - a mature body, and someone who isn't scared to go in hard, just in case?
Or maybe the MC think that as good as Guthrie has looked playing through the midfield, he is more valuable to the team playing in the backline (depending on opposition, and now with Smedts out injured also) which means there is a spot open in the midfield. While we want to see guys like McCarthy, Bews, Thurlow & Jansen get game time, they club may prefer to get game time into them through the forward line or backline to start with rather than just throw them into the deep end of mainly midfield time, especially against the mature bodies of the Crows midfield - so the mature body of Sheringham might be seen as more advantageous; maybe a week by week (opposition by opposition) decision.

Agree,but I was more thinking Joel might be a bit under done and they would be happy to give him 2 and a bit quarters,depending on the score board.

At times - certainly last year - I would agree completely. But he's been solid throughout this pre-season and I'd have him instead of Sheringham in a heartbeat.

Well, I'm gonna say Congrats to Friar Tuck for getting up as everyone else seems to want to say we are ****ed because he got upgraded.
Credit to the bloke for working his arse off and coming back from injuries to make the list. Well done.

Sure he ain't no top 10 AFL draft pick but he is hard as cats head, puts his head over it regardless of what is coming the other way and tries his arse off.
Frankly, Id rather have him running out there with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove than someone who feels entitled to be selected.

Given the choice to play Shezza or Sel, Id take Sel 100 out of 100. But if Sel can't go and all the other chairs are taken and Shezza gets a run, i'll back him in to to his best.

Sore foot issue. Snelling was a bit aloof but eluded to a few weeks rest and then back to it. Made the earlier comment that after Egan and McCarthy any sore foot option being treated cautiously was fine with me….
