No.... Goes inside as much as foley, Arnott, both listed players.... Considering Miles didn't play against ESS answers your question
I strongly disagree with your assessment . IMO Miles work inside has been first class and well above both Foley and Arnott .

But then we lose Vickery's forward play and Vickery isn't as good as Stephenson in the ruck IMO. Vickery hasn't shown much as a ruck in his 5 years here and the club wants to make him our FF.

Also, I personally think Miles (if promoted) would be in the VFL anyway as insurance. So why not have a ruckman as the insurance promotion.

Miles would be behind:

1. Cotchin
2. Deledio
3. Martin
4. Conca
5. Vlastuin
6. Ellis
7. Grigg
8. Jackson
9. Edwards
10. Thomas
11. Gordon
12. Foley

And then he's fighting with Arnot after that. Foley will probably also miss the cut. Gordon maybe as well.

Snap.

How many qtrs has he played???? FFS get your hand off it. Foley is a fair way in front of getting picked then Miles. Arnott will come in as an inside back up before Miles.

He played more than Thomas had in the first two games ?
Naturally Arnott will come in before Miles , as Miles because as a non elevated rookie he can't come in .

Not underselling our forward structure at all . Our forward structure has been ordinary for years , adding Griffith finally alters that .
Although I am confused by your comments when you question whether I am underselling the forward line . Yet suggest I am prepared to risk it for at least a 5th year ?
The recruitment of Hampsons recruitment clearly shows to me the club has a interest in ruckman who can go forward .
IMO we need to improve our inside midfield depth , solely replacing Jackson with Thomas does nothing for that .
You want to see our midfield inside winning ability solely reliant on Cotchin and Thomas ?
Little point having a dominate forward line if you can't get it there .
I do not support the thought that we have inside midfielders .
Agree with the premise(inside mids) but don't agree with the lack of them. Cotchin, Jackson, Foley, Martin (others I cant think of) are good but add in Thomas and Miles means we have now covered a weakness. While it is contested game now, it isn't purely as with many players at the contest, it tends to be a scrum anyway and luck can play a role. Then it becomes a running game, so you need the runners on the outside. With the inclusion of Thomas and Miles I am satisfied that we have covered this area now.

I can see this Flea just not sure people can see how reliant we are on so few on winning clearances and the effect of losing one of those has on the rest of the side .
Such as lids and S.Edwards playing more inside and losing their outside run .

How many qtrs has miles played?????????? 4 lol. You wanna hang your hat on that. You looking like a fool. I'd have Banfield ahead of Miles because of our midfield depth and the scratchy form of King and Lloyd .... That's what our rookies are for.... Back up!!!!! Not to reward form.

So by having Thomas take over from Tuck we stagnate at best in a area we have been exposed to as having deficiency ??
Replacing Jackson or replacing Maric , could mount a argument for both .
How have we been exposed as deficient? Half a game against a side that we shit the bed against every time. Meanwhile we dominated clearances against 2 of the better teams. We have guys on the list who can cover Jacko. I've got foley a long way ahead of miles. Miles couldn't touch it at VFL level.

Odds are whoever was promoted out of Orren and miles won't play anyway. I've said id like to see griff play as 1st ruck if hammer went down and Elton play 2nd ruck. But if my job depends on it then I'd probably promote Orren.

I will say miles was more deserving obviously.

I think martin is poor as an inside mid whilst miles can't be used .

You want to argue on that and start assuming people have their ' hand on it ' or 'looking like a fool' based on that ???
How many quarters has OS played ?

Yes but then sides have been reliant on these types for decades. Mitchell, Selwood, Watson, J Kennedy(syd) etc were all the central figure in their teams' inside ball gets leading to flags. While goods teams do have depth in these areas(as we do imo), they still aren't as good as the players they replace. I personal think we have now a lot more depth in the midfield than ever before(of recent times).

He was dominant as an 18yo playing there. They've chosen to play him outside for his hurt factor.

You ain't going to get an argument from me that miles earnt it over Orren.

Oren is a number 1 ruck and back up ?????? And you are comparing him to miles ??? Who has about 6 blokes ahead of him? Glad the club is making the decisions and not you.

You are the one trying to mount a argument over a playing being in our best 22 and or being elevated over another , based on the quarters they have played . You have also taken to your usual coarse of trying to insult someone in a bid to devalue their opinion . Pull your head in for 5 minutes and observe how people like Flea and Tigs2010 go about discussing things rather than turning to insulting .

So just to summarise "The Roar Is Back" . You would leave Oren on the rookie list and upgrade Miles who has Foley, Arnott, Helbig, Gordon as listed players ahead of him? We have pretty much a full list of midfielders to choose from. Why would we upgrade Miles? yes he showed us some great signs in the practice games (I'm a big fan) and is unlucky that he isn't a listed player because he would jump a few spot on the list on form. BUT HE ISNT LISTED!!! The club has been pretty clear that the rookie list is there for back up if required.

Now lets look at the Ruck situation, we have Maric coming back from surgery and Hamspon who averages 7 game a season and is more than injury proned then a blind downhill skier. We have Vickery who has dodgy shoulders and finally looks like he is 100% fit and who we have risked in the ruck in the past to help Maric out and we can all agree from what we have seen in the pre-season that he is more valuable as a Forward who can take the ruck duties when the ball is deep in our forward line then as a chop out ruckman.... so lets leave him there. Then we have Griffith who played 1 game last season coming back into the side after playing predominately back the last 3 season and virtually no games in the ruck!!!!
We've all seen how we have set the forwardlne structure the whole pre-season with Vickery FF and Griffith as Forward/Ruck and its working very well and its something the club is putting a lot of work into. You want to unsettle this simple to give a kid who has played 4 reasonable qtrs in practice games a rookie promotion?????? can you see how this doesn't make sense? Lets throw the whole forward/ ruck set up to promote a kid who isn't likely to play because he has upto a half dozen listed players ahead of him????

We can debate about Martins ability to win the contested ball until the cows come home ..... stats don't lie.

I think Miles will get the opportunity to prove himself this year and potentially be selected to the primary list in the draft

Depends how many players we lost at the end of this year and how deep the draft goes I guess

Anyway, see no problem with him not being elevated, if he's good enough he'll get his opportunity

I'm still expecting Maric to go on the long term Injury list which will open another spot. The small forward spot looks a little shakey with Kings interrupted pre-season.... I think Banfield looks a long term replacement and has that little bit of x factor and I'd be looking to upgrade him ahead of Miles at this stage.

Maric won't be put on the LTI list
