Just looking thru the FFC site and noiticed that Caleb and Ryley were not listed. Is this just an oversite or has Harvey decided to wipe them off before the year starts:confused:. I hope that both can show something in the WAFL (Ryley started but as usual broke down).

Any reviews on Pratt, Smith and Connelly at training?

I expect the Shadow to have a very good start to the year for the Sharks after a solid pre-season.

He will justify his rookie selection as the year unfolds.

I have great expectations!

Young Smith should also be set for a good year.

He certainly should be. Watched him tonight for the mighty black ducks and his run and carry of the ball (with pace) was genuinely good. Particularly in a tight match like tonights.

Pratt was good at getting the ball and reading the play and defending (I rate him as a very good back pocket) but his disposal - :thumbsd:. He must have turned it over with poor kicks or kicks to a lop sided contest 4-5 times and cost a few goals. Normally, at colts level he was very good, I presume it's adjusting to the tempo.

Connelly was good again tonight I thought, certainly outshone the more experienced pair of Spaanders and Richards, I thought, but struggled against Naitanui, but his athleticism (Naita's) is freakish. Pretty good job from Connelly though, I thought.

Cheers chrsco - good to hear some positives from our young blokes.

Connelly sounds like a keeper, and hopefully Pratt sorts his disposal out as he gets more used to playing against bigger blokes in a faster game. I assume Hinkley was rested and didn't suit up for his first run for Swans this week...

Sorry IP, didn't notice Hinkley. He was listed as No.44, but I can't remember seeing him. I did sort of have a look but had a few distractions around me!

Six goals to Kiwi (but a minor leg injury as well), and Hinkley did play and finished in Swans best.

Good to see the young guys slotting in well at WAFL level so far - it's not unusual for them to take a year or so to find their feet, but they all seem to be doing well at this stage. :thumbsu:

Yes, sorry to forget Kiwi but I reckon he kicks 5+ goals against us every time. Cannot remember him having a quiet game against the black ducks. Was very surprised he wasn't having another challenge game to get under his belt because he can play.

Yeah, thought I might have missed Hinkley, unless I was mistaking him for Davis or Smith? Like I said on the Eagles page, got to talk my son into sitting on the wing so I can see it all.

A broken collar bone doesn't mean he's injury prone, and shouldn't mean any increased risk of injury in the future. The back problem he currently has could be an ongoing issue, or could be a once off. What were his other injuries? Any back related??
It's possible he might just have had really bad luck, and not be injury prone at all.

Collar bone was just the beginning... (poor fella). AFAIK, since then it's been back, knee and hamstring to various degrees as infinitum. :(

Well the knee and the collar bone are just bad luck injuries, could of happened to anyone. The hamstring and back could be related, and might indicate a weakness in the area, or might not. Either way you don't give up on a kid with his talent just beacause he has ongoing hamstring / back problems, that stuff is fixable. Let's not write him off yet, if fit and firing he could be best 22, especially with no Hase this year.

Knees!! Hugh risk to promote him to replace haze then to go down injured again which is likely.

Don't be dismisive of back injuries which can be ongoing.

His knee injury wasn't that serious, requiring a recon etc. I agree the back isue may or may not be ongoing, I don't know, I doubt you do either. I'm just saying its possible he's had a lot of unrelated injuries, ie bad luck, and isn't inherently injury prone at all.

Which is going to get promoted to main list?

I'd go for smith- dunn nothing is too injury prone

No need to promote anyone at this stage. Hinkley, Mayne, Ibbo, Drum and Palmer will struggle to get a game and they are already on the list and in form, if someone on the rookie list is playing well enough to warrant selection in the 25 then they should be promoted.

I just spoke to Dunn's case manager at Medicare. He reckons you're wrong because they have a file of claims at least a metre thick from the last four seasons.
