Well Simpkin did go - and we promoted Stringer from the Rookie list. So we have two Rookie picks and 2 live ND picks.
I'm a big rap for Andrew McLean. He reads the game well, is a strong one grab mark and has good disposal. In the VFL games I saw first-hand this year he didn't lower his colours once. Unfortunately, at 29, time might have beaten him. I'd like to see him get a crack at ones football somewhere.

That's a shame, though understandable from his p.o.v.Andrew McLean has retired from Geelongs VFL team. He's likely to play for St Marys.

Disappointing for him not to have gone that step further. However, he was a key player in a premiership team. St Mary's have done well to lure him there.Andrew McLean has retired from Geelongs VFL team. He's likely to play for St Marys.
Yeah it's a shame to lose McLean but from a development point of view for our younger bigs, maybe it was necessary? I still see Walker playing forward personally but he does have the potential to play down back. Balmey has earmarked Brown to play down back since the season ended. Hamling is still developing down there then we have the Cat B rookies Bathie and Blicavs. And maybe still retain young Sully on the VFL list too. That's a lot of bigs to develop in roles. Also possibly why we didn't draft a big this year, where would they all fit? I'm fairly confident in Brown, Walker and Hamling continuing to develop and being AFL players. Can't say the same for Bathie and Blicavs so we probably need to get as much game time into them as possible.
Plus you get to add Bews, Eadley and now Thurlow as well. Lots of people looking for game time in the back 6.
Im not sure that Bathie wont come thought. I know he is a bit older but he's a big unit and has got skills. Roughie for sure but you could back a far darker horse...

CHB / wing type I would have thought to start. Might play his 300th in the guts...daz, I don't think Thurlow will be settling into the back 6, he looks far more versatile than that.

When is next list lodgement so we find out about rookie situation?
Why keep Sheringham? Fine when we had 6 but now Id see more value in a project ruck than a generic mid that has to get passed several to get a game.
Conversely , did they see enough to say he will be a good replacement in or two years time , considering the retirements that will be coming up?
I would hope that we wouldn't go down the saints path and delist someone after the ND, and on past dealings of helping players get their destination of choice, I don't think the current list management team would do that.
The list is locked and loaded for next year.

What the hell do I know anyway...

Absolutely, I would have been very disappointed if we'd committed such an act of bastardry.
