Turbo pointed out there is a mock draft that has him going in the 60's....

Not impressed...

Seems the club has kept all the rookies they want ON the rookie list. Great result. Watching clubs delist half a dozen players or so while we are forced to part with three whose last game was a premiership and who could all justifiably feel a bit aggrieved that they weren't given an extended run at it to prove their worth just goes to show what a strong position we are in depth wise. Now we just need a few more to sharpen up at the pointy end and we should be set for another shot at the title ;)

Well Simpkin did go - and we promoted Stringer from the Rookie list. So we have two Rookie picks and 2 live ND picks.

Actually, since the number of rookies allowed has been decreased from 6 to 4 (not including category B rookies: Blicavs and Bathie)
we don't have any rookie spaces.

Our four category A rookies are: Walker, Burbury, Eardley, Sheringham

I'm a big rap for Andrew McLean. He reads the game well, is a strong one grab mark and has good disposal. In the VFL games I saw first-hand this year he didn't lower his colours once. Unfortunately, at 29, time might have beaten him. I'd like to see him get a crack at ones football somewhere.

Andrew McLean has retired from Geelongs VFL team. He's likely to play for St Marys.

Disappointing for him not to have gone that step further. However, he was a key player in a premiership team. St Mary's have done well to lure him there.

Yeah it's a shame to lose McLean but from a development point of view for our younger bigs, maybe it was necessary? I still see Walker playing forward personally but he does have the potential to play down back. Balmey has earmarked Brown to play down back since the season ended. Hamling is still developing down there then we have the Cat B rookies Bathie and Blicavs. And maybe still retain young Sully on the VFL list too. That's a lot of bigs to develop in roles. Also possibly why we didn't draft a big this year, where would they all fit? I'm fairly confident in Brown, Walker and Hamling continuing to develop and being AFL players. Can't say the same for Bathie and Blicavs so we probably need to get as much game time into them as possible.

Plus you get to add Bews, Eadley and now Thurlow as well. Lots of people looking for game time in the back 6.

Im not sure that Bathie wont come thought. I know he is a bit older but he's a big unit and has got skills. Roughie for sure but you could back a far darker horse...

daz, I don't think Thurlow will be settling into the back 6, he looks far more versatile than that.

CHB / wing type I would have thought to start. Might play his 300th in the guts...:p

What the hell do I know anyway...

Understandable at his age, and with little prospect of getting to the top level, that he'd pull the pin after winning a flag here.

His leadership and ability was invaluable the last two years, big part of the reason why we won the flag.

When is next list lodgement so we find out about rookie situation?

As far as I'm aware we've chosen to retain our 4 category A rookies and will have no selections in the rookie draft.

Why keep Sheringham? Fine when we had 6 but now Id see more value in a project ruck than a generic mid that has to get passed several to get a game.
Conversely , did they see enough to say he will be a good replacement in or two years time , considering the retirements that will be coming up?

Yeah I'm very surprised he stayed. I can see that maybe last year they wanted an extra bigger body with Ling retiring. Now though I would've thought with Stringer and Horlin-Smith coming on, Caddy being brought in and an extra year into the likes of Christensen, Smedts and Duncan there really doesn't look to be much of a role for him. I would've thought that perhaps a raw youngster with greater upside would perhaps fit in better now. Happy to be proven wrong though and I'm sure there's good reasons why he was kept on.

I would hope that we wouldn't go down the saints path and delist someone after the ND, and on past dealings of helping players get their destination of choice, I don't think the current list management team would do that.

The list is locked and loaded for next year.

Absolutely, I would have been very disappointed if we'd committed such an act of bastardry.
