Whats the story on this one Roos fans ?

I think Pike has been more than useful for you guys over the last couple of seasons, so what do think is the real reason for his delisting ?

"disciplinary" reasons perhaps ?

Salary cap problems maybe ?

Or am I giving the guy too much credit - maybe he is just not good enough at this level anymore ?

Any thoughts ?

PS - Nice to be back at Bigfooty after a two week break, Rooboy and D24 slanging matches not withstanding.

Discipline for sure the guy (who can play football) was told when he was recruited he was not allowed to stray... this season he has been suspended by the club twice...

He will be pick up....

Pike had a pretty average season on the field and a very poor one off it. He was very disciplined during 1999, but as Pagan hinted during the year, there were some players that wearn't willing to make the sacrifices to win a premiership, and maybe Pike was one of those players.

Judging from what was posted on the North forum, the fans wearn't happy that he was axed. I wasn't happy to see Pike go (I don't think anyone is ever happy when a cult hero is forced out, and Pike was a cult hero), but if it sends a message to the younger players that they need to have discipline to win a premiership, then the club have done the right thing. And as with the loss of Bell, the delisting of Pike will give a chance to another player to cement a spot in the side (Makepeace, Lasscock?).

I'm sure he'll get picked up, but I'd be very surprised to see anyone get him before the third round of picks and it wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't picked up until the pre-season draft. The only reason why I say that is while he has the ability and has got at least 2 years of footy left in him, his off-field misdemenours may count against him and he may need to prove to a prospective new club that he can get his attitude right again.
