Geeze Brad will feel he's in a North legends reunion on loop if he ever wanders back in to see the mural of David King and Denis Pagan staring at him.
The only circumstance under which I could ever foresee Brad darkening our door again is if he returns as coach of a rival VFL or AFLW team. They don't hold reunions for abject mediocrity.

Andrew Demetriou had a brilliant painting just outside his office at the AFL of Byron and Winston embracing in the rooms after the 99 flag, massive it was, doubt Gil still has it there (and haven't been back to check lol).

But that's better.

New North Melbourne Metro Tunnel station renamed due to emergency fears
It’s the train station that caused confusion when it was initially announced. And now, the station has been renamed before it has even been built — this is the reason why.

Melbourne Metro Tunnel: New station concept images
New concept images of Victoria’s biggest ever public transport project, the Melbourne Metro Tunnel

A new station in the $11 billion Metro Tunnel has been renamed before it is even built amid fears ambulances would get lost during an emergency.
The confusing name change is also because it would cost thousands of dollars to relabel wires and signal boxes around the network.
In 2017, the Andrews Government left commuters scratching their heads by revealing the current North Melbourne interchange would be renamed West Melbourne when the mega project was finished.

The new Metro Tunnel station, near Arden St, would be known as North Melbourne instead.
But the Sunday Herald Sun can reveal the Andrews Government has scrapped this plan because of financial and safety concerns.

Authorities were told moving around the name of the century-old station would be difficult for ambulance signalling and create too much confusion for triple-0 callers.

It was also discovered thousands of wires and signal boxes would have to relabelled to ensure trains were still safely directed around the network.

From today, the new Metro Tunnel station will be known as Arden instead.

“This is the right decision for the Metro Tunnel and the right decision for passengers,” she said.

Arden was the most popular choice in the government’s 2017 competition to name each station but was not picked at the time because the North Melbourne label better reflected its location.

It attracted more than 50,000 suggestions, with hundreds of other votes to name the area Kangaroo or Shinboner in honour of the nearby AFL team.

Rail Projects Victoria chief executive Evan Tattersall said the most responsible choice was to keep North Melbourne’s name the way it is.

“Further detailed investigations were always needed to fully understand the unique complexity of transferring an existing station name to a new station,” he said.

The new station, currently the site from which two massive tunnel boring machines have been launched, will have a bold archway design and be at the centre of a new urban renewal zone.

Both machines have dug hundreds of meters towards the tunnel’s entrance northern since they were briefly turned off in December over a dispute about cost blowouts.

They actually didn't think of the signal box changes at the time huh

It took 2 years to figure that out.. bureaucracy at it's finest

Suggested it at the time. Should have been Shinboner.

No way Eddie would have allowed a station to be be built next to the Lexus centre and not be called Magpie.

When these polls come along, this is where our club should be making noise.

Archer station was my choice but agreed.. Arden is good though, the club should still be aggressively hitting up the govt for promotion there

This was a comms-driven clusterf*** from the start. It's absolutely no coincidence that the head of comms at Rail Projects Victoria at the time this decision was made is the former head of spin for the AFL/Demetriou at the height of the supplements scandal.

People are actually being paid to make stuff ups like this and then being paid to think of the best way to make the change look like it wasn't because of stupidity.

Look no further than the road works.

Chimpanzees are in charge of Victorian planning.

So how has the government stayed in power so long...

Honestly ? Must admit l am a labor man and things that should have been done over many years are getting done. Think the thing currently is soooooo much is getting done over what seems such a short time span. New tunnels, level crossing removals, freeway by-passes. This govt. after 50 years might actually get a train to arrive at Tullamarine.

But the opposition ? My goodness....

Hand on heart, l got the N.E. Link going on 100 metres behind me in 2 years apparently. Should be interesting. Noise, talk of hotel accom. See what surpasses.

So no compulsory acquisition of your property?

Opposition are a debacle... the problem is though that Labor have barely been in opposition since the 90's - they're a big part of the reason that nothing has been done for way too long.
