Mentality?

The players are just shitter than the opposition.

Simplifying it to being a mentality thing is 100 percent another coping mechanism.

Other sides have more leg speed, more skilful players, better decision makers, more balances sides..
I’ve said this before, but watch any other club training and watch the clips from our club, like the one this week with Curtis mic’d up……..we are just cruising around mucking around. The standards at our once tough club are pathetic. All just mates faffin’ around 3-4 times a week . Bush league club.

Agree. There’s also the sad fact the club thinks that’s what supporters want as we’re into our sixth season of absolute shit.

rofl so we have the BLUWS and then Port at Adelaide again? F the AFL

Thanks to Gather Round, we have a more gruelling six-week block than both Adelaide teams. Great success

They still get paid whether they hurt or not, but they are damaging the clubs future and the club is what the supporters support not the players as they come and go.

Country Vic here and the fixture means that I might get to 2-3 games a year and the rest is Kayo

It becomes galling when you get the “club” cold calling for $100 raffle tickets when I give away $250 in the vain hope that it might secure a GF lotto entry for a seat.

I’d be better off banking that money and paying $1000 for one of those GF Event tickets.

But nah I continue on, $1250 for the past 5 years of wat in return?
I can get to see more games from a $9 ldu membership, than paying $200 for an interstate membership and get 1 game in Adelaide when we are here 3 times in the first 7 weeks.

Actually ****ed

They’re hoping current members dig in for an extra $9 to help pay for his contract 😂

I am the same. I was watching bits and pieces while I was working today and we looked good. I stopped watching the game at 75-75 in the 3rd.

Came back after the game was over to see a 9 goal loss.

I'm at my limit. As close as I've ever been. To giving up and cancelling my membership. I can't have these losses piling misery upon misery in my life any more.

We don't win this coming Friday and I m likely to walk away for the rest of this year and maybe for good.

I'll give them one more chance and that's it. 😪
So you'll be at training on Tuesday and fielding a report?

Was at the game

When GC went to i50 every goal bar one or two was soooo easy throughout the entire game.

Every time we go to our forward line we got ZERO system. It’s like a ****ing struggle to even kick a goal. Putrid ****ing i50 and no forward defensive pressure. Nothing has changed tbh, we just tried in the first 3 quarters of , same shit dif year

Our midfield is not bloody working. The mix is shithouse.

I thought we played alright in patches and I left as soon as I seen the cue the rack put in the 4th. My gosh we are soooo predictable and soft.

Clarko is just not it. We have no improvement anywhere, 10 goal loss in the 4th. So tired of it.

I have noticed a fundamental issue for over a decade when watching us in comparison to other clubs. Our players are slow, and make every goal look laborious where as every other club has run & carry and just strolls into goal.

We all are.

Sorry to say but I think Clarko's time might have passed. He's not a master coach anymore. But what do we do?

Poorta just played their grand final.. back to being rubbish
We've beaten them once in 10 years and that was tge Rhyce Shaw sugar hit win.

They'll load up on us to really get their stalled start moving.

In fairness to the Bardster, Shaw spoke on a podcast recently explaining that those first few games as caretaker coach he was just doing everything according to Scott's program, and the first crack at doing things his way was the Geelong game. The day the music died. We have been dogsnot ever since. I know potting B.S is an olympic sport around here, but we managed to twice fall arsebackwards into a prelim from outside the top 4 with an average list under his tutelage. He is Bill friggin Belichick compared to what we have had in the last half decade.
Rhyce Shaw isn't the sharpest tool in the shed to admit that one

The club is losing passionate fans. I am on the very brink. If we lose on Good Friday, I am done for the year. I also think it will be the breaking point for a lot more fans, which will make our crowd numbers look very ordinary towards the second half of the season.

I am genuinely fearful for the club's future. We have thrown away draft picks on McKercher, Duursma and F1 on Whitlock (he could turn out ok). I am sick of players like Simpkin, Larkey and LDU putting on this facade of being 'sick of losing'. If they were so sick of it, then they would show it on the field.
Yep, I feel the same. It's heart breaking.

I dispute it being an average list.

Wells
Harvey
Tarrant
Thompson
NDS, Higgins, Waite
Petrie
Goldstein
Thomas
Cunnington
Ziebell
Swallow
Hansen
Brown
Firrito
Greenwood
Wright
Grima

Plenty of core quality there.

I've said this before a few times, its probably peak Bard but anyway...

There was a 25 game streak that started in 2015 and ended in 2016 where we lost 5 games and won the last nine. In one season that is a Premiership and add to that in 2016 we were very unlucky. We fell apart like a cheap suit.

We lost alot more players than the Bulldogs and they were crucial players. We lost Higgo, W8, Ben Jacobs when he was the best tagger in a decade, Sammy Wright, Luke McDonald and for periods lost Ben Brown (for one or two games including the one against WB that we lost by less than his average goals for the year), Mason Wood (when he had confidence and could play) Cunners and Scooter (for one or two games).

We also lost more players to injury during games than anyone else. There was an article about it at one point.

The list was far from shithouse and would have been better performed in 20216 with a bit of luck on the injury front.

He was a better coach than he gets credit for now but I think with hindsight he had some major flaws that meant he'd never be good enough to win a flag. He wasn't driven enough to get everything he could out of his players and that was the difference in those mid decade years when we played well.

Forgot about Jacobs.

You had several guys with arguments for being as good in their role as anyone in the league.

Playing Devils Advocate with Brad, perhaps we lacked an aggressive even impatient board to breath down his neck.

He was most probably backed unequivocally with the best of intentions but it never felt like the "now or never" time ever arrived.

He might pull it off at *. They're better resourced and have many more friends in high places.

It feels like we fall over, stumble, turn it over, drop the ball, dump it into the 50 7x times to get a point

The opposition - one kick inside 50, mark, immediate goal

Stuff like this really just makes me think we are over-coached. I'm no tactical guru but like you pointed out our goals are so laboured

Some of players also don't trust or believe what they're being told is going to work. Even if is 50% of the team we are so disconnected and messy because we are all aren't on the same page.
