The Roos are nothing without the worlds best footy player. In 3 years they will be the most pathetic team ever (Collingwood)

Rooboy o Rooboy

Where for art thy Rooboy

Its time for some of that classic wit.

Ok ill settle for shin boners

We seem to have another JAFFA on our hands
Some dim witted fool that wont last long

Whether you are correct or not is irrelevent, we've got him, and we've two flags (and another this season) with him.
Anyway if you look back in time, Carey made his debut in 1989, yet we didn't make the finals until Denis Pagan became our coach in 1993. Without Carey we would still make the playoffs, without Pagan, I'm not so sure.
Pagan's coaching record is too good, even after Carey retires we'll still be a playoff team.

I dislike Carey's attitude and stuff, but credit where credit's due - the guy can play. I think there would be a temptation to build North's entire game plan around Carey, and sure, he's won a few games for them pretty much single-handedly, but I think North have proven in recent times that they can win without Carey. Even when he has a bad game, they manage to cover him. To assume otherwise is pretty unfair to the rest of the team, hell, they are all AFL players for a reason you know.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if Carey left tomorrow, they would still be the Roos wouldn't they???? Or would they change their name to the Nothings?

They certainly wouldn't be as effective but they must have other good players to get the ball to Carey. You just need somebody else to capitalise on the midfields good work. They won't be as good as Carey but logic suggests they would still do alright with quality midfielders feeding them.

Sav, if you can't make it here, then the Magpies are proven right.

All good key position players retire. Geelong lost something post Ablett, Carlton were fortunate that Whitnall was able to step into the void quickly when Sticks gave it away. Swans have learned to play differently post Lockett, and Hawks post
Dunstall.

Sure it takes time but these teams didn't need to turnover their whole roster to start rebuilding.
