The season will come alive after this weekend after North smash Essendon. Its about time these overrated pretenders were put back in thier place and North is the team to do it.

Our forward line with the three talls in Carey, Rocca and McKernan and with Picket cleaning up anyone in site will be to much for the Essendon backline with Wellman out.

Our backline of Archer, McCartney, Martyn and Watt will contain Lloyd and Lucas to a reasonable score but it will depend on what happens in the centre.

Colbert will do a kouta like job on Hird and Harvey, Grant and Kingy will feed off Spider because Essendon do not have a ruckman. It will be a game of roulette with both sides playing defensive side of the bounce with quick clearances. This will prevent Essendon from flooding back and with McKernan and now Rocca up forward Essendon will not be able to triple team Carey like they usually do.

It will be a shootout, but North have the fire power up forward to match em.

Ahh, victory over the Dons is gunna be good.:D :D :D :D :D

Nah, Harvs will get cleaned up by Archer at the 1/4 time dustup.:D

Expect Old Man Sheeds to dislocate a hip when running to the police for protection from mighty Mick in the same incident.:D

They also have good days, as we saw all last year from the bombers :D :D

Lets just wait and see....
Are they really that good?? 1 permiership?? They are on their slow downward hill slide. The only way that you can say that they are going to be a force for many years is if they are improving. From my perspective they aren't. They definitely don't look as strong as last year..

its frightening if they do get better... becos they run the comp at the minute...

going ot be hard to better last year mate, 1 loss...

i doubt that will be beaten in a very long time, if ever!

I don't know if you are taking the piss Dan or not.

But i guess we have improved as a side this season, given the injuries. We now have given opportunities to players who would otherwise not get a game if we had a fully fit list to choose from. The main thing is...we have still been able to win given the above circumstances.

Last year will be hard to top...but i do believe that the team has come a long way as a group. They play for each other and have supreme confidence in each others ability. And i shows on the field.

The game of football is at risk of public disaffection if someone doesn't work out how to topple Essendon by next year.

The joy of sport is a contest and the chance of an unexpected outcome. There's not enough of these - and the Fremantle situation is very bad for the competition.

Even though North played a very good game against us (and we are close to last), I don't see them being the side to beat Essendon. I expect the Roos to get thrashed in the centre (and the loss of Anthony Stevens will be sore in the ball-winning dept.).

Got any other excuses you would like to share before the finals come, just in case you don't win the premiership?

Geez, you don't hear us whinging about 97 or any of our other depleted years. I was disappointed with our performance in 97. I didn't say "oh considering the injuries..." We still (of course) made the prelim.

Before Sunday I said also that the roos will get thrashed, but now Stevo is injuried, I think they'll give it a red hot go!

Am i missing something here? When did i make any excuses. We are first for f*cks sake!!!!

All i said was that we willl be getting our players back. I have NO reason what-so-ever to make excuses for a team that is (look at the ladder)....FIRST

That's some weird logic you have

adrian, i assure you i was not taking the piss in previous posts in this thread...

i have alot of respect for the essendon football club, and its performance over the past year and a half...

i dont like ya's, but its hard to respect the champion team that run out onto the park every week..

things will change when we get closer to playin ya's im sure... i cant wait...

LOL. Your a funny guy. Downward slide.

Only an idiot would predict that we would better our effort last year this season. Or, any other team for the next few years. Like when carlton were basically invincible in 95. It will take another few years for any team to play that good.

Look at it this way, fair enough we have only won one flag in 2 - 3 years of being dominant. How many prelims did north make, as well as grand finals, they have only won 2 flags in the 10 years of finals, does that male them not a force? Hardly. This essendon team is still young and should be a great side just like the mid 90's north team was.

yes axeman... agreed!

this essendon side will be around for a while dont you worry about that !!

a decade of dominance i think, obviously not going to win the flag every year, but are going to be up there every year for many years to come...

frightning really..
