Child,
Next time you are skipping through the papers looking for the comics or your horoscope, stop at the business pages. If you had done that this week, you may have found that the man who has kept your club afloat for the last couple of years is suddenly short of funds himself. He certainly won't be propping you up any more, so the smug expression on your face could be short lived.

Shinboners

I have just read your post on what the troubles presently afflictng your club mean to you personally as a fan.

May I say I for one would be devastated if it came to the worst but I am convince that this would never happen, North are a proud club with a great tradition of fighting and surviving and I am sure the present difficulties will be dealt with in the time honoured Shinboners way.

I never knew them but the VFL without University seems sad to me now, and the death and eventual 'merger' of Fitzroy was a footballing catastrophe that no football fan, regardless of who they barrack for would ever wish on this great game of ours EVER AGAIN.

Anyone who would actively wish North Melbourne to die and then to gloat over such a tragedy - well, I find it hard to even consider them as football fans, really.

So good luck in your latest quest mate, I will as usual do my bit to help your club out again in Sydney this year and hey, lets hope this won't be the last time I am in a postion to do so ...

cheers

By the pure obnoxiousness of your post it is obvious you are getting very frustrated about the current situation of your club. It looks like you can't handle it when the heat is on your club. Anyway, I feel sorry for North and I hope everything works out. So there is no smug expression there. But I do not like how you assume I don't know about the Finace situation. For one, I hate most of the comics and two, I think I could understand the Finacial Section a fair bit more than you could. If you had botherd to read on a bit, you would know that he has already given $2.5 million of the $3 million he was going to give, so its not a horrible situation. By the way you were writing, a bit of jealousy stands out and I can understand that. We are lucky. I don't like to get into arguments with people, so I wish your club well but I also do not like being accused of something I have not done. I have not said anything bad about North. It was just a simple remark to those who had a go at Melbourne. End of story.

'They' tell us (other clubs's supporters) that one or two less clubs in melbourne will make it 'easier' for the remaining clubs.

That is utter crap - or we would all have benefitted from the 'loss' of fitzroy as a melbourne club.

The sad reality, as I see it, is that if a club such as north were to 'go' that your (or my) club is one club closer to the same fate.

The AFL will be 'cashed' up next year for 5 years so expect them to continue the player salary spiral to put financial pressure on clubs to achieve their dubiuos ends. Now they have cash there is no better time (for them) to move a club to sydney or brisbane.

If, in 5 years time, the TV rights are worth less, What do the clubs do then ? ask the players to take pay cuts ? Or blled the supporters more.

Make no mistake, all but a handful of players are perfectly happy with the money they are paid now.

it would be a sad state of affairs it the most financially troubled club was paying ONE player more than any other in the league, even if he is the 'best ever'

I hope the Kangaroos get through their current financial problems. I'm confident that they will and that people will be generous in helping out the Roos. A mate of mine here in Sydney is a keen Kangaroos fan and I'll go along with him to each Roos game in Sydney this year just give them a bit of extra cash. I've enjoyed the Roos games I've gone to up here so far, except when they beat the Swans!
Good luck Roos! I'm sure you'll get over this latest hurdle like you have so often in the past.
