Roos to stay put

THE Kangaroos have resisted pressure to move their Round 22 clash with Collingwood away from Canberra.
''We are not shifting the Manuka game under any circumstances,'' chief executive Greg Miller said yesterday.
Not even an MCG home crowd of 70,000 could provide a better financial result for the Kangas, Miller said..
The Canberra game, originally scheduled for Sydney, has been financially backed by the AFL.
''It is fully underwritten. We have got the match-day sponsors up there, full gate sales, including catering and signage, and there is no take by anybody. We are the full ground managers. We are not moving the game,'' Miller said.
Playing the game in Canberra will deny about 60,000 fans the chance of seeing what could be a last-gasp playoff for a final-eight position.
Even Magpie-turned-Roo forward Saverio Rocca, in a light-hearted fashion, yesterday joined the call for the game to be moved.
Looking forward to the return match with old club, Rocca smiled: ''We've got to play it down in Melbourne.''
KANGAROOS football manager Geoff Walsh is expected to be interviewed at the weekend for the vacant Fremantle chief executive job, Daryl Timms reports.
Walsh will be in Perth for the Kangaroos' game against West Coast on Sunday.
Former Melbourne chief executive Cameron Schwab flew to Perth yesterday for his interview. It's understood that some AFL officials have recommended him for the job.
Walsh, one of the league's best-regarded football managers, worked for Carlton before moving to the Roos about 10 years ago.
