I realise he doesn't have many fans on this board. But I reckon he should be given a run in the senior side his form for Coburg the past couple of weeks has been solid.

He can play forward, midfield or down back and is a genuinely hard at it unfortunately this has cost him in the past getting in the way of Neitz (dislocated shoulder) and backing into a pack against the pies (broken ribs). He could possibly be used as a defensive midfielder and surely in that role he would be a better option than Hyde, Fleming or Fletcher.

Thoughts?

For sure.

He gets a bum wrap if u ask me.
The day he wore Neitz was a gutsy effort, something
joel and co couldnt comprehend.
Nothin special but just as good as/better than the current soft cocks
in the team.

A few years ago I thought Hilton was fairly important to our side with his aggression. Over the last couple of years he seems to have lost that, through injury and/or confidence, and any aggression he has shown has tended to be misdirected.

His form for Coburg seems to warrant a call-up. Hopefully he can at least get back to where he was 3 or 4 years ago and then improve on that.

Its a pity though that the senior team is playing so poorly that one or two good games in the twos is enough. Ideally these blokes should be having to string together a number of good games to get a call up, so that they really get some confidence in their game and get really hungry for a senior spot.

The other thing is that a few of the players who do get called up end up only playing short bursts on the field interspersed by long periods on the bench, so they don't get a chance to really adjust to the change of pace between VFL and AFL.

What is stopping Hilton playing a Dean Solomon type Half Back Flank role for us? He's about the same size and is equally aggressive.

I guess the only difference is that one has a coach that is able to instill confidence in him.

Totally agree CJH. Hilton has been kinda restricted in the past. Why not give him a go? Keep him on for a few games and see how it pans out. At least we will know what hes like.

Hilton was best for us when he was played as a tagger in the middle. He was accountable but got reported too often. But he did play tough.

I like the idea of him playing a Solomon type role at HB. He learnt to be accountable as a tagger. He can learn to be accountable in defence.

I was calling for Hilton to play on Milne against the Saints. I havent given up on him.

I'm suprised Rory has this many supporters on the board. I think its time to open the Rory Hilton Fan Club. "Stick Fat" with Rory and help get him promoted to the seniors.

Rory definetly needs to get a recall. As mentioned above, he is a hard-nut player, and at this present moment in time, we need something to cheer about.

Totally agree with CJH's point. Could be used as a 'solomon type'. He is a confidence player, and considering he has the confidence, he should be given the chance.

Disagree that Rory is tough.

If tough is barrelling into someone's back while they have eyes for the ball, lifting an elbow, or coathangering someone instead of tackling the hips then Rory is tough.

If tough is getting your head down over the ball, tackling guys front on and not panicing under pressure then Hilton is a squib. The irony with Hilton being cleaned up by Neitz is that it was about the first time he backed into a pack. First time he did something genuinely tough and not something to pretend he was.

Hilton might have been a good player if he actually made the effort to get fit. If he had the stamina to play midfield we would not have to go and get Kane Johnson. That was the role Hilton was recruited for, but he is just cruising along, everyone's mate and all-round good bloke.

Hilton may be tough, but he is so fat & unfit that he never gets to a contest to show this. I remember seeing him play at full forward last year and other the fact he never got a touch his opponent was virtually a free man in defense and just ran off him.

I'd rather give pettifer or a young bloke a go, someone who can run for the lengh of the centre square without having a "breather" and someone who can kick.

Just lie down on the couch and relax Krakustar. Now, how often do you here these voices in your head? We'll have to exorcise them because they're messing with you so much you now think Hilton is better than Bowden. Verrrrrry mixed up.
