Silent Alarm may be a lot of things but he's a Freo fan, until he explicitly states otherwise, and is allowed to express his opinions here.

You're just born into things. What happens when your little prick kid starts smoking buckets and drinking piss and wearing Monster a energy clothes at 12? You have a go at the little campaigner but it's still in the hope that he gets better. It's about venting the frustration and letting out the ideas on why the little campaigner is wasting his life and how he needs to improve - because there's potential and you want to see it hit.

Clubs go through players, jumpers, grounds, coaches, CEOs, sponsors. Some you like and some you won't. But the essence of the club is always there - none of those things are forever, but the club itself is. You can vent and hate one, any, half, most, or all of those things in the hope one day they're replaced by something better. I support Fremantle FC because I did once, do low, and will always - but I'm airing the shit that ****in shits me. I don't want to see Lyon coaching, don't want to see Clarke and Clancee playing, can't stand the thought of the recruiters and list managers botching another trade period and sitting on their hands. I'll keep supporting the club because one day it'll get better. And the anger and the resentment of the shit times will be worth it.

Essendon fans, the rare good ones, hate Hird and Little and the pricks who let a famed old club ruin itself and shame the sport. They hate it. They don't like the spot it's in and even feel mild embarrassment to copping up to "yeah, support Essendon actually..." to people they meet. But their disappointment and anger is a short term thing: one day they will have a good club. But, until then, they are within their rights to hate everything about it currently.

FWIW I love a lot about the club but it falls on deaf ears. Apparently Pav is some old hack and should retire (how this doesn't provoke outrage proves how poorly versed the people on this board are; that man is Freo and we owe the bloke anything), but to me I feel so much pride and thanks. I like the jumper. I love the town. I like the links to the WAFL and Souths and Old Easts. The home ground is a beautiful old gem, a relic and a special thing that's underdiscussed in the league. I like some of the olde brigade; Hase, Belly, J-Lo, Lukey, Shane Parker, Scotty Thornton, Kep, even Viv bloody Michie. But I hated things in there too. This is a frustrating time because promise was broken and ruined by a few people and our possible success was harmed meaningfully by them.

I can say what I want about the shit things in this club. I'm just more critical because I'm not a naive child who thinks "Ross has cards up his sleeve for finals, you wait" or how it's some grand scheme to get Hogan in two years and Hooker is all ours (he'll go to the Eagles if anywhere in Perth)... **** me senseless. I won't justify it anymore.

None of that explains why you're happy with yourself over predicting the club "is shit"
