I think the Prelim showed that both Dawson and Silvagni did a decent job behind a tiring midfield.
I agree. Didn't think much of McPharlin in his first couple of years. A couple of years ago Ted Richards who? Top backman take a bit of time to develop their game. Scos has played 29 games and many of those just coming back from injury or not strung together. I won't be writing him off until he has been given time in one position for consecutive games whilst fit and with a preseason under his belt. If he is still a JVB then off you go son, but until then, the jury is still out for me.

I would disagree in regard to Silvagni.

Ross Lyon

Thought the Boss fingered the midfield for letting Danger and Thompson off the leash in the 2nd half - appeared to go out of his way to excuse SCOS? Bigger point is, do you write Silvagni off because at this stage of his career and with not much AFL footy under his belt he couldn't go with the mulleted one? I think not.

Methinks this is fast becoming a Ross Lyon, project player strategy.

Silvagni goes as hard as anyone in the comp at a contest. He has plenty of good attributes. He's EXACTLY the sort of player Lyon will forge into a role player in a team defence. Those writing him off or wanting to trade him are going to be disappointed is my prediction.

He did. And he was right.

But I'm not basing Silvagni's worth on just that game.

I really didnt think the delivery was that great, yes the pressure in midfield wasn't good enough but half the kicks were not that good, its just Silvagni found himself poorly positioned due to slipping and the way Walker was marking the ball.
Couple of times it looked like Silvagni had done enough to get Walker under the flight of the ball, but he just jumped up and marked it with ease.

Silvagni will make it at AFL as a defender imo.
Unsure whether its going to be here or elsewhere though, quite a few vics in the media rate him, maybe they are just blinded by his name or they saw the potential he showed for us.

Love the "No Excuses" Ross.

After the game, he talked about the fact that West Coast got so many goals from free kicks, but it was not a dig at the umpires, rather he kept saying he has to go back and have a look at what the defenders did and see what we can improve so it doesn´t happen again.

So refreshing and true. At the end of the day we can only control what we do, not what the umpires or duckers do.

Also turned down the hype by pointing out that West Coast were missing quite a few from their midfield. Keeping it real is old Ross.

I think we will see his move of C Pearce down back turn out a winner this year. Also Suban to re-emerge and enjoy a Clancee type breakout year.

There was a part there where Clancee got the ball, beat 2 opponents, took off running and delivered into the fwd 50. It was very Swanesk of him.

With so many forwards with speed to burn, fish pubs 60 metre worm burners are going to be a lethal weapon in defence. Looks to be an excellent move so far.

I loved this too.

One of Harves greatest errors IMHO was providing unlimited excuses which allows the players an easy out.

God we are blessed with Ross - he will squeeze every last drop out of this group.

Next marker must be to smash the Dogs - no honourable 20-30 point win, if we have truly evolved this will be about smashing them and taking the points & %

I thought he was having a straight-out dig at the Toast. It is so obvious from the players reactions, from all teams but especially us, that they are sick of the tactics a few Eagles are using. The way we drive them into the ground and have a word to them after a ducking incident shows this in my eyes. Our players are not saying to them well done, you earned that free kick with desperation and skill.

I love the humility and graciousness of the man. The first thing he said in his post match on-ground interview with Fox Footy was that he really admired the Eagles for coming out and making a statement early when they were missing several of their key midfielders.

That was something really to be admired, especially by Eagles fans. We all knew that this is where we were going to win the game as that is where their weakness lied.

That is the key to Lyon humour. It has little barbed insinuations that may or may not be there. i thought the same as you.

Couldn't agree more. I thought he was having an "AFL legal" dig at the umpires. But who, other than Ross, knows?

I didnt think it was possible but i have fallen in love with an unattractive middle aged man who walks like a fairy.. every interview and press conference is gives you those butterflies you can only get when in a new relationship with your new stud.. but i've said too much*
