Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley is questioning Brownlow Medallist Brad Hardie’s right to keep an AFL media credential after claiming Fremantle coach Ross Lyon wanted the potentially vacant Magpies job.

Buckley did not answer if he would seek out Lyon for clarification on the unsubstantiated Perth radio story that was met with a strongly worded statement of ridicule from both the Fremantle Football Club and Lyon on Sunday.

Would certainly send a message re ex-player commentators fabricating bullshit - particularly those who like to carry over long-term grudges into their work.

The biggest laugh I got was from the video and Scott Watters taking aim at the club. Given his AFL stint was incredibly short, I think he'd be the last to take aim but there you go.

I do suspect he's right that Fremantle people will no longer tolerate garbage performances though.

Not an arsehole like Hardie obviously but Todger Haselby is still a bit of a bonehead. Can't more people with some actual brains get employed in the media?

While I agree haselby says some dumb shit, I'm glad ex freo players are getting more air time in Perths media.

I hated listening to that meat head jakovich, while Karl has slowly grown on me.

Hearing Pav, McPharlin, Hase and Macca finally gives freo some media presence.

6PR and Hardie can get bagged as much as you like but where there is smoke there is fire. Why would lyon want to jump ship given he still has 3 yrs on a $1M+ contract? Because he's a finisher coach not a development coach. Colon wood are ripe for a coach like lyon. Besides he may wish to get back home to Melb sooner rather than later due to family reasons
Hes half a chance to go down as Freos best development coach. Another season or two will see the list completely turned over, ready for a new gameplan/gameday coach to step in.

It upsets me that Ross gets more fired up about innuendo and perceived slight on his credibility. Ross your credibility doesn't hinge on gossip but the performance of a team which has lost 30 of its last 42 games.
If you don't think that Ross doesn't get fired up about poor performances, then you didn't watch the quarter time huddle very well on the weekend.

You lost your credibility in your first sentence.

The bit I read in the article - if true, is a salient lesson for all coaches. "It has been said that Watters wasn't too choosy with who he aired his dirty laundry with, which included members of staff, which is always fraught."

You only complain upwards if you are in a leadership position, you aren't fit to lead if you do it downwards as it causes disunity in a group.

We should start offering odds on whether Fantasy Pants is outright lying whenever he opens his mouth or puts pen to paper.

Might let him finally get his Brownlow back from Cash Converters.
It actually it was on display to be sold at Garside and Webb Auction House. From memory it was less than a week way from being sold when it got pulled from the auction.
It was quite a talking piece.
His ability to back dogs seems as good as his journalistic ability.

He was bumped from Sports Today in order to make way for Paul Hasleby, however he remains on Saturday mornings with Hagdorn and Langdon and calls the away games with Drew Morphett.

I will not listen to Hagdorn, so if that means I don't hear Brad Hardie...bonus! I prefer listening to ABC radio on Saturday mornings - Mark Duffield talks a lot of sense, but I don't know how you Freo supporters would think of him, even though he says he's a supporter ;)

I like him. His nephew played for us so he's a supporter

I think Duffield tells it like it is.
He's independent, and doesn't grind an axe.

Paul Hasleby played for you too, but he seems like more of a Weagles fanboi these days - I expect they were his boyhood team, but did he finish on bad terms with the Dockers?
From what I recall, he believed that he had more to offer as a footballer, Mark Harvey may have disagreed on that one and he retired as a result. Hopefully someone can correct me on that one.

Same.
I only listen to 720 am (684 in the country) and Mark Duffield is knowledgeable and balanced in his observations about all things footy.A very fair commentator on the game, often quite insightful, good value.
Hase did want an extra year and was not offered one,so likely there is a bit of bad blood.I have noticed he's been happy to chip away at the club on occasion.Great player that he was(I wanted the club to give him another year)I'm not convinced Hase is a great analyst of the game.Have heard him say some silly stuff, and didn't think he did much of a job with Souths.
But again when you're paid to provide commentary the reality at times must be that you say things you've neither thought through nor necessarily believe on reflection.
Still got a soft spot for Hase he's one of our champs.

Nah, his back was gone and he couldn't even get up to play in that final against Geelong back in 2010.
