Passing lots of legislation is only a good thing if you think we dont already have enough rules.

One of the pieces of legislation she passed cost thousands of people their jobs and permanently harmed an important export industry because someone hit a cow on the head with a stick.

Id prefer politicians spent their time ripping up pages of legislation rather than writing new ones just like Kerry Packer suggested.
Ummm... do you need an idiots guide to legislation? Ripping up legislation is done by passing new legislation ;)

because someone hit a cow on the head with a stick.
Apparently evidence of cattle being whipped, kicked, slashed repeatedly with blunt knives, water spurted up their nostrils, eyes being gouged during slaughter, banging cattle heads against concrete floors, animals still conscious when being dismembered, cattle dismembered in front of other tied up cattle can be summed up as "someone hit a cow on the head with a stick" .

I get it mate. You're a racist who doesn't thinks that because 1 foreigner committed animal cruelty, all foreigners should not be allowed to slaughter our true blue aussie cows.

That's basically what the argument against live export boils down to. Racism.

Quoted for idiocy. Racism? Really?
Yes, really. A great proportion of the union movement's (and by extension the Labor party's) opposition to trade, foreign ownership, export industries, foreign work visas etc is based in racism. How else do you describe a policy that punished a whole country of people for the actions of one person?

But feel free to call me an idiot instead of presenting any real rebuttle. That's really all that can be expected from someone who's as far out of depth on this issue as most city kids are.

Obviously not a single country person cares 1 gram of dog shit about your views on live export or the people who are involved in the industry. It's not any of your business and you have no idea what you're talking about.

We'll just keep on never voting for the farmer-hating Labor party until the day they cease to exist.

This thread is a little like politics at the moment
Distract the punters from talking about the real issue ( Ross Lyon thread isn't it)whilst they devour each other talking about trivial side matters
Typically these discussions are allowed to go on for ever as long as everyone is on the same side. Now that snowflakes have to deal with the horror of someone who thinks Julia Gillard wasn't a very good PM, the whole tangent will be deleted by the mods when they find it.

You're allowed to talk about politics as much as you want on bigfooty as long as you aren't a conservative. 2 pages bagging Abbot and Trump is fine. A single post praising either of them would receive immediate infractions for trolling.

Literally all conservative posters end up getting banned from the SRP eventually because the mods can't handle it. That's fine with me, but I don't want to sit and read pages of shit praising the Labor party when I come here to talk about footy.

Actually in a lot of cases the training and the slaughterhouses in Indonesia where widespread incidents of animal cruelty occurred where set up by the Australian Livestock Industry - so the industry should take some of the blame for knowing what was occurring and turning a blind eye to it.

Why didn't you say that to the first dozen people who posted about politics in this thread? You've liked all the political posts you agreed with, it's only when someone who doesn't share your political views posts that you start complaining about politics in a footy thread. You're a massive hypocrite.

I stayed out of it until people starting praising Gillard - Australia's worst ever PM.

So that's it. Labour hates farmers. Well not so much as the conservatives hate workers and the poor. Economic units to be exploited. Punished and vilified for not being born to the right parents. Of course it because they are lazy are its all their fault.......

Labour supported the Shearer's Union when they were literally sending farmers death threats for employing Kiwis in the 1980s. Still waiting for that apology or even an admission of wrongdoing.

If they all got hit by a truck I wouldn't shed a single tear.

Much as I love a good political discussion - pass.

Good on Buckley for asking that the media accreditation be revoked for he should not be named. Would make it into my top 5 of coaches media statements if I were to have such a thing.
agree. Seems like an area of the game that could be cleaned up without too much hassle. I struggle to see why he isn't moved on. Same with Hagdorn.

Wow, some comments there. The cow wasn't 'hit in the head with a stick', it was belted with a sledgehammer in the head until it died. Ive got people in my family directly employed in the cattle and breeding trade and nobody could take what happened as acceptable. You're the first person Ive ever known to excuse it.

The treatment of animals is appalling from abattoir (including the hunting animals for fun) and this comes from someone who loves a steak.

Firstly, I haven't presented my ideas on live export.
Secondly, idiocy is not the same as idiot.
Thirdly, to call a person complaining about animal treatment a racist is as long a bow as you can draw. The logical leap that you have taken there is extreme. You've now extended it to the entire labour movement.
Fourthly, I don't think you speak for all country people. Allying yourself with a party that now only cares about the top one per cent hasn't helped country people maintain their town's populations, or their welfare. Farmer-hating Labor party? I know you believe that. But where is the evidence? And don't be selective - every ruling party has made decisions that have negatively impacted farmers.

Fifthly. I'm done. Can we please get back on the topic of Ross Lyon?
