News Ross Young - Sandover Medal

Well done to former Carlton player Ross Young on winning the sandover medal last night as the best and fairest in the WAFL.

Another former Carlton player Luke Blackwell came second playing for claremont.

In the earlier part of this century we were the kings of recruiting players that were lower level stars but duds in the top flight.

Fantastic result for the guy. Wan't quite AFL standard, but always looked a cut above VFL. Worked really hard too.

On the downside, Jon McCormick looks like he is done playing after a serious knee injury.

I always thought Luke Blackwell could have had a future at the Blues. Was not overly quick, but didn't mind getting his hands dirty and I thought he was quite poised with the ball in close - exactly the type of player we need (especially when Hadley is out of the team).
