Rotation Policy

One thing that has bugged me with the modern game, but espicially yesterday's game, is the rotation policies. Last quarter, 15mins left, Leon has just plucked 2 goals out of nowhere, we look like we may have momentun and could possibly steal the game, and what happens? He's put on the bench for the next 8 mins. Same happened with Didak, went on a spree at the start of the last and get's pulled off.

I know it's all about keeping your players fresh, but surely when there's only a couple of blokes doing something to ignite the team, the rotation policy can be put aside and they can be left on the ground until they are spent? Just seems strange to me you take off players who are fired up and doing things.

We rotated less yesterday than all year. I do get annoyed with blokes running off after kicking a goal though. I especially struggle with it when you take Leon Davis off after kicking 2 rippers, there are too few avenues to goal, he can play as a stay ay home forward and not run himself ragged and there isn’t all that long left anyway.

One thing that I noticed and heard mentioned was that at 3qtr time we had only used the interchange something like 63 times.

That number is signifcantly low compared to recent weeks.

Can anyone confirm how many interchanges we actually used?

Were some players carrying some form of injury that prevented MM to rotate more heavily?

On TV Tim Watson speculated that MM was worried that with an avalanche of rotations we'd lose our one-on-one accountability on the likes of Judd, Stevens, and Murphy. So in an attempt to remain accountable they limited their midfield rotations a little.

That's the only theory I've heard so far.
