ESSENDON ANNOUNCE NEW COACH

The Essendon Football Club are delighted to announce Peterss as their new coach for the coming season. Peterss put pen to paper last week but the club held off making an announcment until today.

Essendon CEO Mark Frederick had this to say "We are delighted to get the signature of Peterss as head coach for the coming season - Some may say that its a bad move due to his lack of high coaching experience but we have faith in Peterss and we believe he will do a job for us this season - He has been assistant Coach to the Peel Thunder Colts back over in WA and last seasonw as the coach of the Rockingham Rams Colts team - We welcome Peterss to the club and wish him all the best"

Peterss was present at the club's press conference and stated this "Im delighted to be announced as Essendon's head coach for the coming season - As Mark mentioned i havent had the senior coaching experience of some of the others but having worked in a Colts system the last few years as both a player and a coach i have a good working relationship with young players at clubs and Essendon have a pretty young list and i will be looking to develop them into quality AFL players in the future. I look forward to working with Mark and the rest of the board and ultimately bringing success to the Essendon Football Club"

Essendon have reported that they will be chasing one big name signing during the trade period and then going after cheaop youngsters to get the TPP down.

Reiwoldt may be traded

Due to Essendon's ever increasing Total Player Payment pressure and being over it due to the signing of Matthew Pavlich Essendon are takign expressions of interest for superstar CHF Nick Reiwoldt.

"We dont want to trade Nick but we may have to, to get ourselves under the TPP for the year. He is highly valued and we are aware that other clubs may want him but wont approach us due to also being over the TPP but we will offload him reasonably cheaply if a deal can be struck"

Sewell flies into Dons nest

Essendons active trading period has continued with midfielder Leigh Montagna being traded to the Hawks in exchange for Brad Sewell.

"We rated Leigh but we needed to free up some of our salary cap and we believe Brad is just as good as Leigh and he's cheaper so it was a win win for both sides" Said Peterss/

Re: Essendon Board 2007-08

Petrie a Don

Drew Petrie has been traded to Essendon as the club once again looked to free some room on their salary cap by offloading Brendon Goddard and Clayton Collard to the Eagles.

"Petrie is a KP player just like Brendon and Drew can also play in the ruck if needed - We rate Goddard higher then we do Petrie but coming off a knee recon is always hard and he was costing us a bit of money and we saw Petrie was available and was cheaper so we jumped at the chance."

TRADE DETAILS

Essendon (Peterss) recieve Drew Petrie @ 297k for 2 years

whilst

West Coast (Kerrby) recieve Brendon Goddard @ 480K for 3 years + Clayton Collard @ 86K for 2 years

Razorbacks announce Draft Targets

Head coach of the Rottnest Island Razorbacks has today told a packed media conference of their targets during the upcoming draft period.

"Its a fairly weak draft this time round so the talent pool isnt as deep as it has been in previous years...That said we have pick 12 and with the retirement of veteran Robert Harvey getting closer every year we are planning on getting a midfield replacement for Robert who can take over in a year or two time. That was our initial thought however this may change before the draft starts. We have used our 2nd round pick on Darcy Daniher under the Father Son rule which leaves our next pick at Pick 50 and with us only having one ruckman on our list at present we really need someone who can come in to cover incase Coxxy gets injured. Whether we use Pick 50 on a ruckman is undecided yet but it seems the logical choice but that will be decided closer to the draft....As for other positions apart from a midfielder and a ruckman every other position is pretty well covered and we may look at recycling a delisted player or two with our later picks"
