I saw the self protection as a ruse to try and ward off evil in case the claim wasn't believed
Also, the claim from crowwy made sense to me in light of pie's flip and the mafia miss /crowwy being a preferred target of pie

And there were multiple posts but it was the germ lock post that first made me think he was the doc specifically, rather than a non-specific role seeking the amulet (which is what the post which quoted my amulet claim to chip came across as )
