Roughead - how many weeks?

Ridiculous that these incidents are even talked about.

The MRP have charged people with so many minor, incidental or accidental contact issues over the years

The Players Association needs to stand up to the AFL on the MRP generally. The whole process is a farce and everyone knows it.

I don't believe SteveJ should have got anything for his bump, and I can't reconcile Joel Selwood being charged with pushing his brother over and Steve J being able to yank Hanners arm.

Zero in the roughead incident. They'll probably only make mention of it due to the media circus and the SJ incident

Clean Record, wasn't high and didn't hurt the bloke.

Do you seriously want blokes rubbed out for bullshit like that?

read my post above - nothing in the incident whatsoever to even deserve a reprimand.

Roughy should have a free shot at challening this based on his good record.

As such he has a chance of both setting a good example for the AFL as the tribunal have shown a propensity to overrule the MRP.

Secondly he also stands to retain his good behaviour record.

I think it probably was overall the correct decision

No way should he be getting a week for it, However the Reprimand is a "Don't be an idiot" type of punishment, realisticly should not even be cited, however thats the age we live in

Wtf is with people saying he was given a reprimand? He was given a week, but due to his good record it was downgraded to a reprimand.

Whilst I agree with the overall result (one week downgraded), how on earth was this not judged as intentional? He hit the bloke in the chest, well behind play, on purpose! Another case of the MRP massaging the classifications to get the desired result (which, once again, I'm happy with).

Had a look at their definitions of intentional and wreckless and they are quite complicated which leaves them room to massage things as you said. I think they reason that he intentionally made contact, but did not intentionally commit the rough conduct offence. If Dawes had been more seriously hurt, or Roughead was not such a nice bloke, then they may have called it intentional.

It's all a bit over the shop isn't it? For what it's worth I think in both instances (Maxwell and Roughead) the person who was hit has influenced the result. Dawes is a big unit while Poppy is a midget.

For what it's worth I think both Roughy and Maxwell should have got off.

I understand what your saying but Maxwell and Roughy should both of known that and know what happened to SteveJ the week before. Roughy's was just plain dumb and if it had of been a bump and not that swingy arm thing, would have been okay.
Maxwell was unlucky in a sense (that he caught him high not that the MRP got it wrong by the way) but to me the bigger thing that the Umps should take out of this is to look for Collingwood players illegally blocking players runs more then 5 meters off the ball! (slight tongue in cheek here but only slight).
