It'll be Shiels this time but JOM & Hardwick will be given the C & VC titles in a couple years

I don't agree. He is one of our best, but the captaincy is not about best, it's about the ability to communicate and lead. My gut feel is Smith or Sheils. The captaincy should go to our best and most consistent player, Tom Mitchell.

Shiels for me. If it affects him, the team won't feel it as much.

The person that I would really love to see given the captaincy for 2019 is Shaun Burgoyne. I know this is unlikely but I just feel he would be the perfect fit for 12 months, and then the door is open for a Jaeger/Mitchell type in 2020. Apart from his age he ticks every box for me.
Nothing against any of the other mentioned in here, as I feel Smith, Shiels, Gunston, McEvoy or even Mitchell or Jaeger would do a great job.
Anyone else here Don Scott on SEN this morning regarding rough?
What did he say?Tend to cringe whenever he talks Hawthorn these days. Forever grateful to him for helping save the club - but **** he’s unrelentingly negative about HFC these days.
Saints are irrelevant because they don't win, simple as that. I have no clue if Geary is helping or hurting them in that regard but If they were winning Geary would be higher profile and Stkilda would be relevant. Is everybody suggesting Tom Mitchell forgetting how painfully average and borderline poor Shane Crawford was as captain? Best player doesn't automatically mean best choice for captain.
Would be happy with Shiels, Smith, Gunston or Stratts honestly. Feel as if we can't go wrong with any of them.
Stratts as captain intrigues me the most. Would certainly bring some swagger as the face of our club. St.Kilda feel like such a nothing club currently and it starts at the top with Jarryn Geary. Absolutely isn't a dig at his ability or leadership qualities, but he is so vanilla and forgettable in the media and as a personality that the Saints feel a tad irrelevant at the moment.

I just wish Jaeger was ready for it.
He is our next great captain.
I hope he is included in the leadership group for next year.
Not understanding all the angst.
We’ve got good leaders who’ve ran out with some of the best the game has ever seen.
There’s almost zero chance that any of the candidates will be a “bad call” when Clarko and Sam are involved.
