Are they the only example?comparisons with the bulldogs only strenghten the arguement for a need for a quality power forward. Geelong is an example of a team that acheived success without one but they happen to have 2 of the best small forwards in the history of the modern game (chapman and johson) which will be almost impossible to replicate.
Have you seen how old Pavlich is?
Can't see us landing either.
Roughead loves it at Hawthorn, has already won a flag and is likely to win at least one more there. Doubt he'd be the player to leave for extra $$$, and he certainly wouldn't walk out on Hawthorn.
Pavlich is still unlikely. Only way we'd nab him is if Freo have an absolute SHOCKER of a year in 2010 (and by that i mean a spoon) and Harvey gets the sack. If that happened, i would say there's a fair chance a new coach would look to trade in whatever mature players he has (e.g. Pavlich) for one of our younger players. Draft picks will be worthless with the GC having them all.
Weren't people on here talking about throwing the kitchen sink at Travis Boak at the end of this year ?

Are they the only example?
Many premiers have had these hey forwards, but how many of them performed to win them the flag?
Hawks? Port? Lions? WCE? Sydney?
You go back a long way to find a key forward having a day out on GF day.
Miserly defence and a gun midfield win premierships. Forward lines look after themselves to some degree.

Was that before we picked up Brock in trade week, and then Lucas at the draft? Boak isn't the player we need to target now.
Agreed. Boak can stick it, Port overhype all their players.

O'hAilpin not a premiership player? Westhoff is?
Sure.....it would be great to have a "gun forward"......but we have had one for the past 5 years.......and it makes us one dimensional. If we get Roughy or Pav it will be the "kick it to Fev" gameplan all over again.
What makes Geelong so good is they don't have one key target, so it makes it really hard to block space and zone off. Henderson, O'hAilpin and Waite as a group will be better than adding one dominant forward amongst them.........and I think we have already witnessed this pre-season that Yarran is about to become something quite special.......that radar is just starting to find its line.
So neither thanks.
