Tapscott had hip surgery hip surgery let him notch up his fitness send him to Casey 1's for a few weeks to get his confidence up again before exposing him, i wouldn't think Maric will get a game and maybe Jetta could fill the spot. Was only a simple suggestion.

MFC article yesterday said that Maric had been tearing it up in the pre-season so far... but I agree that Wonna, Jetta or Bennell would get a game ahead of him if fit.

Pretty hard to argue with that. I'm disappointed Jones isn't in there, but I can't squeeze him in anywhere. I think 2011 is going to be a defining year (one way or the other) for him.

I think this is the toughest decision the club has to make wether we go for hardness or speed or a bit of both. I went for a bit of both with Bennell ahead of Jones and MacDonald ahead of Bail.

MacDonald was excellent against the Swans last time and Bail was pretty good as well while Bennell and Jones were pretty quiet even though Bennell's defensive pressure was pretty good and Jones kicked 2 goals. I think we will get a better indication on where those 4 fit NAB cup time.

Been very hard to get this settled. A few notes:

I would like Trengove to learn to play HB this year.

I really love what I have seen/heard/read about Tapscott and what I have seen of Gysberts so far and think in the long term one of them might force Jonesy out , so they are the players that I want to see early, but don't think they'll be ready for round 1.

Don't think we'll see any of the noobs get a game round one unless someone blitzes the pre-season comp, maybe Howe or Tom Mc.

Looking at our list again, if even 1/3 of our players-in-waiting turn out to be AFL level, we are going to be batting very very deep in 2 or 3 years.

If you were refferring to my post, let me clarify.

I feel like in the next 18-24 months one of Tappy or Gysberts could become a more valuable player than Jones (and semi like-for-like). I was not suggesting that one of them might replace him round 1, 2011. I don't think either will get a gig that early, and if they did, it wouldn't be in place of Jones.

Not sure if you were responding to me or not, but just thought I'd clarify.

Matthews has just returned from a serious head injury, I don't think they are going to put him in the heat of the action immediately.

Jones won't be on the bench at VFL level, he could very well be in the seniors or at least the first emergency.

I have no idea on what the clubs will do with the sub rule. I can understand teams going with a player with pace and\or versatility (that probably rules Jones out).

My thinking was that the sub will more likely spend the least amount of time on the ground for the enire game out of any player on the ground and the player that usually spends the least amount of time on the ground in a game is usually the back up ruckman.

The sub rule won't last and will be scrapped at the end of next year where they will then probably cap interchanges, it will be interesting to see how teams adapt to this crazy rule.

IMO Davey should be playing half back - has so much dash, good kicking skills and is calm under pressure, we look a better team defensively with him there

Bail and Jetta have to play but im not sure if they will.. both looked so good in patches last year and have been in good form so far over the preseason.

i think we need Warnock simply because we are too short without him, obviously the one to make way for Frawley
