Im also sorry to intrude, but I'd love to see Matthew Wright in ur best 18.

Obviously starting out as a rookie and earning a spot on the senior list for the upcoming season is a great start. Do u guys see him having the tools to push into the midfield permanently? or will he continue as predominate ly a forward? I think he should be another relatively mature-aged success story sooner rather than later.

Used as a sub on and off throughout 2011, but brought pretty quickly back in after an ankle(??) in one of the early rounds, hopefully he shows enough in the preseason for Sanderson to heed my call.

Am i far off the mark?

As a hawks supporter he's just somone I've grown to like, especially after what I've heard he's been through to get to this point!

You and me both.

Very, very good footballer.

Not sure whether he's being considered for a midfield role yet, but his skill, nous and goal sense are second to none. He's got a mature body too.

FF Jenkins Walker Porps
HF Knights Tippett Petrenko
C Mackay Thompson Smith
HB Jaensch Talia Vince
FB Otten Rutten Johncock
1R Jacobs Danger VanBerlo
Int. Sloane Brown Wright Douglas Doughty Callinan Henderson Riley Johnston Kerridge Lynch Lyons Shaw Martin Grigg McIntyre.

My starting 18 is built around 3 talls in forward line. I have high hopes for Jenkins even though some will say it's premature. I just think he has a more rounded game than our previous candidates in this structure (Moran/Mckernen). He has the pace and agility that the Moran/Mckernen have but he is aggressive and has intenisty (unlike Moran and Mckernen's intensity fluctuates), he has good hands (Moran didn't while Mckernen can take a nice grab) and he is a beautiful kick. I think he'll be a legitimate forward option in his own right but will also make life a little easier for Tippett and Walker providing we structure up right by creating space in forward line and being organised. We also need to move the ball quickly and use it well up the ground.

Due to this tall forward line, I have put Petrenko up forward to add some pace, spark and defensive pressure at ground level. For this reason alone he is ahead of Wright/Callinan, but I'd definitely have one of them on bench/sub for team balance. Especially if Porps, Knights or Petrenko got injured.

I would like to see Vince tried again across half back. Unlikely though because I think Doughty will probably have ownership of that spot. With a more direct game plan/ball movement I think he could be more than useful in the Goodwin/Hodge/Gibbs role (although Gibbs doesnt play there anymore). Vince and Jaensch on either flank would provide 2 nice penetrating kicks. I also like Vince across half back because he has a bit of height 188cm. I'm a little hestitant playing 2 small hbf's (ie Jaensch, Doughty, Tambling, Martin, Grigg). They're all around same size. It's nice to have one flanker who is a medium-tall sized player just for versatility/match ups.

I've got 15 guys on the bench who need to be condensed to 4. I couldn't do it. We could probably have 4 smalls/running players on the bench though because it already is a tall line up and Jenkins can play forward/ruck/defense so he can fill any holes created during a match by injury/poor form.

Please keep in mind when you quote crow-mo that crow-mo shared with me that he thought Tambo would get top 5 (or top 3.. can't remember) in the B&F last year...

We can only hope he was right and Craig's management of him was wrong... and that Sando can get it right.

You are obviously referring to the bottle incident.... I went to a bucks show in the same neck of the woods where he got bottled a couple of months ago and met his old man. It was in the off season and I asked where Matt was. He came very early, and left before 7pm... He didnt want to put himself at risk. I love hearing that kind of dedication and determination to succeed:thumbsu:

Got bottled at a party in Modbury when he was 17. Fractured skull and missed out on getting drafted as a result

That happened to a friend of mine (bottled at a party at age 17, fractured skull; not in modbury). He no longer has a sense of smell or ability to taste. Poor guy.

Matty Wright's done well, and should earn a place in the side, IMO.

F: Porplyzia – Walker – Wright
HF: Knights – Tippett – Vince
C: Mackay – Thompson – Henderson
HB: van Berlo – Talia – Jaensch
B: Johncock – Rutten – Otten
1st: Jacobs – Dangerfield – Sloane
Int: McKernan – Tambling – Douglas – Smith (sub)

Apologies to the new draftees who I don't know much about. But fit and in-form that's a pretty good side IMO.
