Surprise packet for me has been Hendo off HBF.
Contested well in the air, used a bit of body work, broke away from contest with pace, most disposals effective.
Yes, I concur. One of his better contributions for sometime.

Lynch is clearly in front Johston, by a long way; Mckernan and Jerkins both performed better than expected; McIntyre and Callinan equally rated - That may go down to the wire.

To be fair all the talk about Johnston from the club has been about him being a defender
First crack at this:
Stiffy Rutten (fingers crossed) Otten
Doughty Talia Jaensch
Smith Vince MacKay
Sloane Tippett Danger
Porps Tex Petrenko
Jacobs VB Thommo
I/C Douglas, Lynch, Jenkins, Callinan
Shit thats hard
I might be biased but I can't find a spot for Reilly or Henderson![]()
Whilst these kids have all played well tonight - and many of them also played well last week, the fact is that very few of them will be in the team for R1. With just 22 slots available, there aren't all that many vacancies when you consider the number (and quality) of players who sat this one out.Lynch is a shoe in I reckon.
Still a toss up between Jenkins and Smack.
Shaw ahead of Johnston and Thompson.
Callinan in.
Smith definate starter.
Otten best game in a long time, keeps that up and he deserves his spot on merit.
I missed out on seeing Douglas
first crack:
B: Stiffy, Rutten, Otten
HB: Smith, Talia, Doughty
C: Sloane, Thompson, Vince
HF: Danger, Tex, Lynch
F: Porps, Tippett, Callinan
R: Jacobs, VB, Douglas
I/C Knights, Mackay, Jenkins
Sub: Kerridge
Did you forget about Petrenko and Jaensch, or were their omission meant?
I would have them in place of Douglas and Knights.
There is plenty of love for Otten however at this stage I don't believe that he has done enough to secure a spot in our best 22
With this in mind I don't believe that NC managed his return well at all last year and as a result Otto still lacks form and confidence and it would not do him any harm at all to fight back through the sanfl
first crack:
B: Stiffy, Rutten, Otten
HB: Smith, Talia, Doughty
C: Sloane, Thompson, Vince
HF: Danger, Tex, Lynch
F: Porps, Tippett, Callinan
R: Jacobs, VB, Douglas
I/C Knights, Mackay, Jenkins
Sub: Kerridge
I think the most potent forward line has tippet at CHF with Walker at FF.
This means its much harder to double and triple team Kurt. It also allows Kurt to use his contested marking a bit further up the ground.
It should also stop the mids banging the ball inside 50 as Taylor is more of a leading mobile type.
B: Johncock, Rutten, Jaensch
HB: Shaw, Talia, Smith
C: Sloane, S.Thompson, Mackay
HF: Vince, Tippett, Lynch
F: Porps, Walker, Petrenko
R: Jacobs, Van Berlo, Dangerfield
I/C: Otten, Reilly, McKernan
Sub: Henderson
Emg: Doughty, Knights, Jenkins
If Rutten is not fit, then Talia to FB and Ottens to CHB, Henderson to the I/C and Doughty becomes sub.
At some point, the older players need to give the up & coming players, first crack.
Like this side other than Doughty in for Henderson. I imagine Doughty would start though and so perhaps Shaw to the Sub.
Apart from a a few arguments here or there the side pretty much picks itself currently. However most of the players we would consider to be in our best 22 in round 1 of 2012 have had their fingerprints all over the mess of 2010 and the abject failure of 2011.
Its great to see so much pressure coming up from below and Im certain if the garbage served up by our so called core best 22 in 2010/11 is repeated in the first couple of rounds, there will be plenty of opportunity for others.
You are more than likely to be right, but I was just leaning towards our youth, knowing that the first game wasn't against a top eight side. Thus steeling our senior players, like Doughty, for the tougher games ahead.
The forgotten man, is Tambling, who's first half was useful (cleaner hands and disposal, and a very good mark). He may come in to calculations, if he play's against Coolingwood.
