We thought that Brisbane in round 1 last year would be a gimme win.

Turned out the start to a horror season.

Pretty sure there wont be a repeat.

Who will Port put on Dawes and Clarke? Chaplin is gone, I assume Carlisle will take one of them.

Bring on ROund 1!!!!

Not confident at all we will open with a win. Port will be galvanised by the loss of JMac...

...then again we were meant to be galvanised by the loss of Jim Stynes. Not sure how we'll go. Port are one of those sides... you know they are going bad but you just don't know what could happen when you play them.

Reckon it's far too early to be making win/loss predictions for Round 1.

Fair to say the crowd could well be a record low. Easter Sunday early game, not even time to have a massive lunch and then roll to the footy... Faaaark.

Just keep going from the Saturday night, have a late breakfast, turn up at the G... sorted!

Really disappointed with the AFL to be honest. Port play us, while Collingwood play North??? Let them play each other for JMac, or at least give Port a home game to start the season.

There will be 25-30k there. Bookmark it.

People put too much emphasis on Easter Sunday. No one cares anymore, and it's not like people aren't willing to go to the football JUST because it's Easter Sunday.

If anything, it should drive crowds up a bit.

No excuses. Round 1. Anything less than 25k would be an embarrassment imo. Hopefully Clark and Dawes are both fit, and if Viney plays, even better.

I think you overestimate it. We have a pretty conservative (Christian) older supporter base. I'd assume a lot of those supporters would either be at church or with their families. If it were later on in the day I could see a bigger crowd turning up as people could go to their functions and then go to the footy with their families. On top of that we're playing Port who don't draw well for an interstate team in Melbourne at all. Don't get me wrong I'll be there but I expect we might get 20k or 25k max.

Bit of a bullshit time, but I'll be there. Not going into this year with any expectations. 2014 I'll start expecting a bit more. In saying that I hope we rip Port a new one.

Laughable. It's amazing how much the media just want a story. They literally did everything in their power to try and destroy Neeld this year, but he'll come out stronger because of it. Personally I think he needs until the 2015 season to really start flexing his muscles. He's completely re-building the list and more importantly the culture. Thank goodness we finally have a coach who has balls and will live or die by the sword. I have very little faith in sports journalism these days and will only read the work of certain writers.

The similarities are mind boggling! This should be a good game - I'll be praying for a win.

And I howl and curse 'Jesus' a lot more at the footy, anyway, so this is a godsend, of sorts, for me on Easter.
