If the AFL were serious about building up blockbusters Melbourne playing Port at the G on Easter Sunday is a joke. It'll most likely be at 1.10pm which even more laughable.

For a giggle I've made some changes to round one that would be better for marketing, etc.

• Showdown to open season
• Essendon play Melbourne on Saturday twilight... guarantees 40k+
• NM v Col solo Sunday twilight match = 50k+ and big TV audience

i reckon Rory Taggert is a big chance to debut Round 1, kid is a jet and just needs an uninterrupted preseason to show what he can do

Yeah would very much like to see our lads wearing the right colours against them for once, though if it's an away game at the MCG I won't be too upset.

Guys - we can actually beat Essendon during the H&A season. Let's not go messing with it - if we can roll them in an "away" game then it stays that way. If it aint broke don't fix it.

Essendon's greatest rival of recent times has been the month of June. If we play them in June, they're toast.
