I'll take a win in round 1. 1 point. 10 points. 100 points. Whatever. A win.

The mere mention of round 1 makes me curl up into the fetal position these days. So, in anticipation of me 'going fetal' again in a couple of weeks time, I've made myself a rigid back-brace out of lids (some that I've collected that have been scattered around this forum, the rest from my mate at the jar factory I mentioned earlier).

I'm going to strap myself into the back brace a couple of hours before the St. Kilda game. Then, whatever happens, at least I won't end up exacerbating my scoliosis.
 
Half of you are sounding like Richmond supporters.

F the cricket =- although it's nice to beat the Sth Africans.

I agree with getting some passion and enthusiasm rolling - we need it, the club needs it, and there's nothing wrong with being optimistic.

I swear some of you have been bent over so many times you forget what it's like to bend someone else over. THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY!!!

Let's Bend the Saints over, and go bareback with no Lube. Hit em' Hard with everything we have and destroy them, their hopes and their dreams. Crush their supporter base and get some Mongrel back into us. For far too long we've been a joke, and Like mrmonkey said - I too reply to the 'sympathy' from oppositions supporters with "It's ok, I'm used to it". That's not how it's meant to be fellas. That's f'n Sad.

Peter jackson wanted to sell us hope so far im sold
 
The perfect storm has been created for us to get done in Round One. Saints have a number of key players out, Melbourne have given supporters hope with a good pre season and most of the football world will expect us to win.

For that reason I'm still very nervous about Round One, we have to absolutely be switched on if we want to win. Winning at Etihad, and beating St Kilda for the first time in eight years, I would be rapt with that.

We sucked because we had the worst coach in history and mids without experience, kicking skills or ball winning ability. We've rectified all of that. We haven't added a couple of teenagers and potatoes we've added proper starting level footballers. We won't be dominating in September but we won't be a basket case either.

Hahahaha - I love this comment! It's not so much about anal rape with homophobic undertones but more so like dogs and domination.

Frankly, I'm more concerned about the lack of lid than I am about the...other stuff.
 
I remember feeling cocky before the round 1 match against Brisbane a couple of years ago, and that was a debacle. I'm quietly confident against the Saints, but being realistic, I just want to the win.

I'm with this guy.

Saints are rebuilding now. We know what that's like. And at time when we were rebuilding and missing players we took some teams by surprise and thumped them. There are no locks in football and it will be a long time before I'd tip us to win a game by a big margin.
