Fun fact we've only beaten the Saints once at Docklands and that was back in 2000, the first time we played them there (0 from 8).

Or is it now 1 from 9?

He has his detractors, but we have missed Richy after he went off. Really put a dent in our plans.
He's on crutches. Hopefully just a precaution. It looked like one of those you could run off. Hope it's not bad.

We did miss him when he went off but we definitely missed having the extra rotation.

Thought it was a pretty impressive performance from you guys. Rich going down was pretty big, and the Saints' extra rotation was pretty obvious towards the end.

Walker and Bell go and you'll have a pretty exciting side.

What benefit was derived from playing Walker as a defender and starting McStay as a forward. He needs to be down back for the rest of his career. It simply unsettled everything early. What did Fagan think would happen? Walker named at CHF and he should play there. Did he think McStay would kick a bag? St.Kilda would be rattled by this positional masterstroke? Poorly coached today.

Plenty of mistakes, but that's a great effort minus Rich for most of the game, especially so with Zorko (tagged?) and Beams having no influence.
Walker has to go, injured or not. Last season he was a decent marking target up the ground, but he's barely afl standard player and will never be more than that.

If St Kilda's gameplan is to be reactive and prey on the mistakes of lesser sides, good luck to them.

Another rubbish finish to a game.
Bell is useless.
Hipwood should go back to Colts footy.
Bundy is the most over rated small forward.

They all quit midway through the last Qtr.

Piss weak Lions. Piss weak

Disappointing to lose but we kept it to a close loss, won some good key indicators and did it with a player down.

While our turnovers and fumbles when marking really cost us the game, we have plenty of signs that we're not that far away from being able to beat the mid table teams.

We were +20 for contested possessions late in the third term, ended up +6. Effort dropped with the energy levels sadly, but that is a big positive.

The more we win the footy, the more confidence we have to not play behind and the more practice we get on moving it effectively.

Can see where the work needs to be done, but there is a lot of potential for improvement this season.

Oh and demolish that horrendous cavern. It produces football as soulless and uninteresting as the stadium.

As someone who has been to just about every stadium in the country (brag, brag), I can safely say that Etihad is one of my least favourite (the worst in the country by far though is Metricon). The surface just looks horrible right now.

Bell worked his way into it in the third quarter and wasn’t the worst. Some of our ‘sacred cows’ in defense had poor games.
People shouldn’t be too harsh on Walker. I would have played him at Full Forward today once it was clear Hipwood wasn’t going to hold a mark. Hipwood to CHF for mine. Get him up the ground a bit.
