Not always. Some teams have suffered difficult losses in Grand Finals and come back stronger the next year.

1991 Hawthorn beat a young West Coast Eagles in their first grand final after West Coast finished 3 games clear on top of the ladder
1992: - Eagles win the flag from 4th (in

1998: North lose Grand Final to 5th placed Adelaide after being up by 28 (?) points at half time
1999: North win their 4th flag

2005: West Coast lose to Sydney by 4 points
2006: West Coast win the flag by beating Sydney by a point

2012: Top of ladder Hawks lose to Sydney
2013: Hawks win first of three in a row

There's just a few examples of teams going the other way and not fading after a bad GF loss. It is all up to the club and how the help there players process the loss and what they choose to take out of it. Obviously there are lots of examples such as Crows in 17 and port in 07 where clubs have gone the other way.

Personally I think that 2019 will be looked back on as the year the Giants finally 'grew up' and I fully expect them in another Grand Final in the next 2-3 years.
They were all outstanding teams that you used as examples.

GWS are not an outstanding team. Good team, yes. But they have shown nothing to indicate that they are in the same league as the above teams.

If they winthe GF this year, well that will prove you right and me wrong.

I feel very differently about some of these

Richmond def Carlton by 35 - standard round one win for Richmond. Business as usual.
Western Bulldogs def Collingwood by 10 - Bulldogs always take it up to us, and our round one record is too atrocious to ignore
Essendon def Fremantle by 25 - was liking Freo but they're missing like 7 or 8 best 22 members. Bombers also handicapped but I prefer their top ups
Adelaide def Sydney by 10 - don't rate either side, can see the Crows pump up the fans with a memorable round one win
GWS Giants def Geelong by 20 - Geelong are good but GWS have nearly their entire list available. Should get the job done.
Gold Coast def by Port Adelaide by 30 - Port look to have the right midfield balance this year, they should win against a young Suns side but could see an upset
St Kilda def by North Melbourne by 20 - didn't think St Kilda could throw a completely new side together and be competitive right away but I like what I've
seen so far. North are perennial slow starters, they'll probably do it again
Hawthorn def by Brisbane Lions by 20 - have shown they can curb Hawthorn's style. Look primed for another big season.
West Coast def by Melbourne by 15 - big upset to happen. Eagles faced with a few key players on the sidelines and I'm not a rap for their depth. Melbourne
have had next to no pre-season concerns besides Gawn who will play. They'll have their best side out there, and I think they'll win.
