I feel like we are having a different convo

but back to the game

I think we will beat the crows

no crowd takes their main advantage

Possibly I’ll be tipping Adelaide with utterly zero confidence. Be a bottom 3-4 contest be tight

They don't have an advantage there anyway with us. We seem to thrive on hostile crowds and unfamiliar territory. The only time we lost to the Crows in Adelaide was in 2016, which no exaggeration, is still one of the best games of the last decade.

I wonder if it might actually be a better environment for debutants to play in. Empty stadiums is a lot more familiar to them from the U18s, NAB League and state leagues they'd be used to playing pre-debuts. Being able to adapt to senior footy without the added pressure of the crowd might see them perform better than first-year players typically do.

Still remember the Crows sulking about the 50m penalty against Betts in 2017, but no mention of Betts getting away with a huge shove in the back before he kicked the sealer in the 2016 match.

Geez you've got a good memory. I don't remember it well enough to recall that, though I do remember it being one of the most free-flowing, skilful games played by any teams from the last decade. Amazing goals being kicked left, right and centre, Heeney starred inside 50, forwards were taking strong marks on the lead. Both teams scored over 100 and it went down to the last few minutes. Everything you could want in a match.

Not surprising that SA supporters would be having a bitch about something though.

Can’t really get excited about the game with that whole will it won’t it go ahead.

Players will play at a decent level even though there is no crowd. Rugby league players have been doing it for years.

This will be a tight game as the Swans forward line is non-existent and the Crows have looked way off the pace in the preseason.

Swans to win.

I think Gould is a lock. A mature player, used to big games on Adelaide Oval (maybe not accustomed to small games on AO).
Really need guys like OFlo, Hayward, TMac, Naismith to improve this year like JD and Pap did last year. Plus we need recruits like Taylor and Gray to keep performing like they did in the Marsh.

But not sure how I'm feeling about the game and this whole weird season-not season. Feels like the Dylan lyric 'everything is a little upside down, as a matter of fact the wheels have stopped'.

I was at that game, still the loudest crowd I've ever witnessed at an AFL venue.
Having said that it was in the middle of a weekend of wine country, restaurant and small bar hopping. The senses might've been distorted.

We ain't winning this season and it's gonna be an asterisk flag anyway so not worried about the result too much. Just wanna see some fight and some growth from some of the younger lads.

Very excited to see some cygnets hopefully take their games to the next level, starting on Saturday.

You said the same because it was a practice match

You don’t mind making excuses if we loose

Thanks for helping me out & getting this Preview up Skeparovic. Much appreciated.

If I could shake your hand... I probably still wouldn't... but I'd offer you a friendly smile & a squirt of hand sanitizer!

You're welcome GotTheGoodes. We could elbow bump apparently as that's what people were offering at the funeral I was at today. Careful with the hand sanitizer you might get mugged if people know you have some in supply. I'd accept the friendly smile anyday along with a go swannies 😊

It's not an excuse. Just a fact. We're a very young side that is nowhere near the typical age or experience demographic of flag contenders. That simple really.
So it’s a fact we don’t try

What a load of shit mate

It’s ****ing Adelaide amd they are garbage

Who said anything about not trying? I think we almost always try, we're just not that good.

Adelaide are garbage and we should win. Again, where did I say we shouldn't? I even said earlier in this same thread this is a very winnable game and we should be expecting a win.

If you go back you'll see I said I'm not worried about the result. As in I don't really care win or loss because IMO the game shouldn't be happening and I don't give a crap about the ladder really in what is a compromised season.

Development is by winning games. Losing doesn’t develop the team it holds it back.

It’s everything. I’m happy to get games into the kids whilst still trying to win games.
