Taking into account the balance between player development and winning today:

B: Corr, McKay, Hayden
HB: J Walker, Tarrant, Perez
C: Polec, Cunnington, Stephenson
HF: Thomas, Comben, Simpkin
F: Taylor, Larkey, Garner
R: Goldstein, LDU, McDonald
Int: Dumont, Anderson, Scott, Young

Emergency in rough order: Ziebell, Mahony, Zurharr, #2?, Turner, Atu, Xerri, Atley, #11?, W. Walker, Hall, Bonar

Notes:
- Stephenson to rotate through wing and forward.
- Comben over Xerri (Tilthorpe?)
- Perez over Atley
- I'd give Garner first shot over Mahony, Ziebell, Zurharr and Turner. Zurharr needs to do some work. Garner needs some continuity. Sad to leave Mahony out as he showed a lot.
- Ziebell doesn't have a spot. Admittedly that leaves the forward line light for leadership but making do with Garrner, Simpkin and Larkey.
- Sad to leave Atu out and he could change that over pre-season. For now we have better/similar types with Taylor, Thomas and Stephenson.
- A bit concerned about lack of run from the backline, but that is the tradeoff putting Walker in and running McDonald in the midfield. There's a fair bit of flexibility for rotations.
- I don't see a spot for Walker in the forward line. He's too one-dimensional and not creative enough to play forward: I'd rather have Xerri developing.

B: Hayden, McKay, Corr

HB: McDonald, Tarrant, Perez

C: LDU, Cunnington, Simpkin

HF: W.Walker , Larkey, C.Taylor

F: Garner, Comben, Zurhaar

Foll: Goldy, Thomas, Stephenson

Int: Anderson, Scott, and the two best performed under 21s in the preseason

i wish i could put mcdonald on a wing i would love to have him in our midfield but we have no depth at half back

atley, hall, jack, polec ,josh walker, dumont would all help us win games but wont get us any closer to a flag we need to move past them all

people naming josh walker in the team reminds me of how everyone had marley willams as a lock last year
How you or any north fan can have anything good to say about hall is just baffling to me.....

Personally, I feel as if Scott will play his best footy as a winger and not a half-forward, he has all the traits you would want in a winger
Ziebell, Atley, Dumont, Garner and Hall all miss for the simple fact we're trying to play kids.
Come on mate, ziebell plays when fully fit, but I believe he should be a permament forward

B - Hayden - McKay - Corr

HF - Taylor - Larkey - W. Walker

F - Zurhaar - Comben - Garner

Is Dom Tyson completely out of the picture?

I was a big fan of him during his early years at melb, but he just hasn’t panned out for your boys.

Did he play in the ressie scratch matches this year? I can’t find anything on him.

Was injured all year - with his calf

His best bet is to be a run with player ala Ben Jacobs

With possibly Xerri and Walker to rotate through second forward/ruck with Comben

Still need to target more pace in the coming years - rebounding half backs and small forwards :thumbsu:

No sure exactly how the 22 will rollup but after the draft and off season selections and commentary by the club:

- Xerri will likely be in the 22 as long marking option and ruck backup;
- Forwardline will be tailored to the mid iszed marking forwards;
- Ziebell will play forward but be under pressure to hold the spot;
- Dumont will struggle to hold onto his spot with better inside options and a greater focus on speed on the outside. I would say Phillips in and Dumont out likely;
- Scott, Stephenson and Polec to rotate off the wings and across HF. WW if fit can enter this group as well;
- Cunnington, LDU, Simpkin and Anderson to be the core centre players, get the feeling someone like Phillips being the 5th would be preferred to round out the complete mid group, then they can rotate the part timers like TT, Zurhaar, Stephenson etc as part of rotations;
- McDonald, Perez, Young and Hayden my early group to rotate through the small defender positions;

Tyson and Hall would feel like complete crap after that draft.

We picked up 4 midfielders and a fwd/mid that wants to transition in there.

Then pickup up 2 additional guys that will push from the flanks into midfield in the VFL.

Campbell/Tyson/Hall/Menadue to form the core of the VFL side in the new comp.

Did he play in the ressie scratch matches this year? I can’t find anything on him.

Has pretty much spent the last 18 months off with re-occurring calf injuries. Can't imagine he'll get too much of a crack next season. Purely depth only I would've thought.

We are taking the piss if we play Dumont in a center square role at any point in the next few years.

He's been a very solid player for us, a consistent top 5 B&F finisher. He often plays a sacrificial defensive role for the side.

But he's every bit as slow as Jack @ 3.20+ over 20m.

This also isn't taking into account Cunnington coming back as well.

Cunnington and Simpkin should be the two "senior" midfielders in their for the majority of center bounces. With LDU, Phillips and Powell rotating in there for game time. Anderson as well is someone that's going to have to compromise on his role a little bit.

I honestly think he will get phased out of the side slowly in the next 2-3 years as it becomes stronger.
