Essendon outplayed us for two and a half quarters. Hit us with everything. Absolutely blasted us at clearance and did it while beating us at tackles too.

But good teams find a way to win and we just kept matching them. Our ball movement was fantastic tearing apart their defensive zone. That’s the hallmark of a real Premiership contender - winning games without playing at your best.

Plenty of things to work on but plenty of things to like.

Held them off in the 2nd half which is a good sign.

Few things to work on. Lost clearances and they had a lot of the play in that 2nd half, outscoring us.

We're 2-0, just where we want to be.

Another finals-like grind. Great to see the guys repeatedly regroup and halt the oppo momentum when needed.

It ended up being an ugly win but the truth is that's sort of what you want in March. Grind out wins and look for your balance. If you're the finished product this early you give the comp the whole season to work you out i.e Sydney 2024. 2-0 leading into a tough stretch v Carlton GWS Port and Geelong. If we can get through that 4-2 we will be in a good position moving into a much easier run v WC Richmond Melbourne and GC.

Absolutely smashed in the contest in the second half. Looked like blokes didn't even want to take possession a lot of the time.

Was a thing of beauty to watch until Scrim went down, then it became a scrap. We did amazingly well to hold them off when we were out on our feet and they kept coming and coming with plenty of run. Our centre clearances (newk) and Moore’s work up forward made sure the game remained ours. Gotta love a couple of hard fought wins to start off the season. Hopefully we can freshen up and run the game out next week. Go hawks.

Imagine if this is 2025’s slow start? We might have more gears as we get comfortable. Are our mids not running out games? Seem to have quiet periods.

We just have too many weapons. Asked too many questions of Essendon and they didn't have answers.

Bombers threw the kitchen sink in stoppage and we killed them on the spread and transition.

Don’t think we are playing anywhere near our best. Got beat in a few areas tonight but still won pretty easily.
The evenness across the team is a real strength. The guys that were quiet last week had more influence tonight and the guys that really lit it up were quieter tonight but same result.

He will definitely get a week Does he now miss 2 games how does it work. Only time I can think of somebody getting injured and getting suspended the same match is Alistair Lynch in the 04 Grand Final.
