Theyve got a few missing from Opening Round too, but I do agree.

Gone from a "Helping the northern states" thing which was a joke in itself, to a "Oh no Collingwood complained so we need a game in Melbourne" thing.

Rankine back for round 2. Only Curtin and Keane out for round one. Still two and a half weeks away and youd hope Draper, Soli, Peatling, Hinge, Berry, Ah Chee and Cumming will be right to go by then.

After Draper, apart from Soligo, they’re all pretty recent, do they’ve had the full preseason and would likely be running still, as none are too bad. The hammies at least, Berry and groin might be different.

Seems clear he will enter the season as depth
But most would expect him to play at some point just a matter of if that’s to rest mcandrew or mcandrew doesn’t do enough and by rd 5-6 he’s the preferred option again

I think rob will dominate SANFL as he has done when dropped previously, so it will test the nerve of the coaches as to how they assess SANFL form vs mcandrew afl output.

What we don’t know is how committed to the idea mcandrew has passed him (or at least how sold they are that there’s a genuine significant gap there)
The fact mcandrew was preferred in the internal trial and Rob won’t feature in either of the other trials does give the impression they’re pretty set that he’s been overtaken though

I don't really get the Toby Murray one. Doesn't seem ready to me and isn't really good enough forward to add to an already tall forward line (tex, fog, TT -Thilthorpe).

Contrary to 1990's thoughts Toby Murray has made great progress since joining us, missed more than half of season 2025 with a serious ankle/fibula injury after a limited preseason. this preseason is really his first full preseason.

Irrespective of his progress, the point of being very top heavy stands. Tex/Fog/TT/Murray are all going to need to play forward, we will have 3 talls up forward most of the time. This whole TT playing midfield is only going to be in bursts

yeah and with the same amount of interchanges the 5th player being a small just doesn't really maths out. Though I'd imagine when Tex is rested we do go smaller.
