Not saying we're going to be like Geelong in '07, just trying to encourage a little optimism.

Unfortunately that is being hinted at already. They haven't come out and said it openly but the tone is definitely heading that way.

Like you say, lose to the dirty birds and they won't be able to help themselves.

hmm and in 2007 we were 3-4 after 7 rounds. the coach was sacked by round 15.

The Geelong example is often cited but since then all the sides that have won the premiership have been in the top four at this stage of the season with none of them having lost more than one game. In years gone by it was a regular occurrence for the eventual premiers to have had a slow start to the season. Hawthorn were fifth at round 6 last year, but were still 5-1.

Going by recent history only Hawthorn, Port and Geelong can win this year's premiership. Maybe this is the year that trend breaks?
