Luke McDonald played a fantastic game, one horrible shank but the rest was awesome.
Yep. It kills you when he makes a back breaking save then almost hands it straight back but credit where due he saved our bacon a handful of times tonight.

Worth noting that's it - we're not going to get anything more. He will put his body on the line, he will make the odd great play and he will mongrel the ball a bit too often. Can afford to have him around at times but we need more, teams will just sit on Daniel now as he is "the" exit player. We badly need a Goater or other attacking player down there.

Jy was very good? He absolutely butchered the ball time and again.
Yeah. Did some good stuff but also the complete opposite. He is absolutely unreliable by foot. It's not that hard to see why Clarkson prefers him closer to goal even though on paper he plays best in the middle.

Just wanna start seeing results. Again, objectively, can clarko still coach?
Evidence in the past is that coaches that were successful 10-20 years before, generally don't succeed at their next club.
The game changes. And often the older coaches are stuck in their ways that don't work in modern football.

I'm not writing him off yet btw but just speaking generally. My concern is his complete inability to establish any sort of defensive structure and we're in the third year. Our defensive zones from opposition kick-ins are absolutely terrible as are our tactics at our kick-ins that often invites repeat entries and eventual goals. Basic things like that, we're behind the rest of the competition.

He went to ground, it might be brave but it’s ****ing stupid.

The rules are meant to be there to encourage players to keep their feet, not to go to ground trying to draw frees.
Just watched again and I'm sorry but he is an idiot, has his feet and the ball at his hands, feels contact and decides to fall forward. The AFL has made a rod for their own back by rewarding players for dangerous play.

And who recruited most of them?
Wasn't me. A couple of times during the match after an unfortunate series of events had taken place, the tele flicked up to Clarko, who I dare say was as perplexed as the rest of us as to what he had seen transpire. My thoughts at one such time about Clarko were - "why is he still doing that" I don't recall the actual play where I looked askance at the tele, only to see Clarko look askance as to what he'd just seen.

I think some blokes are now at essington, one may be at carltin and might be another has gone to watch the motor racing.

Yep! As long as they keep paying free kicks players will keep going to ground and incidents like that happen.

As you said the AFL and it’s umpiring department is to blame for incidents like that.

So Jacko'll get 3 weeks then

Every year I start the season with so much optimism and excitement. Then it all comes crashing down in the space of 2 hours. Come on for goodness sake!!! Make it better!

Another day, he scores five. It’s very frustrating.
When was the last time he scored 5?

He is more likely to kick 1.4 or 2.3 and from easy set shots too.

He had a bloody good game apart from the above, and marking in front of Souv for an oof was the icing on the cake.

I said it in another post, he didn’t finish his work but he busted his arse to compete.

There were a few of his teammates that were absolutely pathetic with their effort and played downhill pea heart footy.
