Prediction Round 1 Best 22

I've been impressed with Schade, but I feel against the Bulldogs with Roughead injured, Tom Boyd will play a fair bit in the ruck, leaving them with a fairly short forward line(Cloke and Crameri the only 190cm+ players). On that basis I'd see more value for this matchup in taking an extra small/mid size player.

I noticed in JLT 3 that schadey schaded a few of the smaller/medium tigers in def50,at one point he was on prestia, another on castagna and even a bit on Dustin Martin. Perhaps he is seen by the coaches as the type that can play on the smalls to talls (maybe not the Hawkins type) and use his height to defend well against any pressured entries when the ball comes in high.

Could be a parallel to the slightly built Dustin fletcher although I think there styles are different?

Its going to be tough fitting them all in but I think

Schade has shaded Dunn
Goldsack has sacked Maynard
Aish also unlucky, Blair as usual last picked but always picked.
Cox has to play as a second ruck and White deserves a game as a specialist key forward...slight risk of being too top heavy but not really its the usual two rucks two key forwards lineup
Mayne questionable but showed enough to justify round one selection
I assume Wells Greenwood and Elliot are injured

Maynard Schade Ramsay
Howe Reid Varcoe
WHE Sidebottom Adams
Fasolo White De Goey
Phillips Moore Mayne

Grundy Treloar Pendlebury

Smith Crisp Cox Blair

Emg Dunn Goldsack Aish

Cant believe I've left Maynard out!

Unchanged from my call last week except I've put Maynard back in for Goldsack.

Maynard Schade Ramsay
Howe Reid Varcoe
WHE Sidebottom Adams
Fasolo White De Goey
Phillips Moore Mayne

Grundy Treloar Pendlebury

Smith Crisp Cox Blair

Emg Dunn Goldsack Aish

Cox should play even though we run the risk of being top heavy. Sounds like De Goey will be fit.

Ok here's my final contribution, succumbing to popular opinion on Maynard, he's back in, and conceding Jamie looks unlikely to get up. But the Sack stays!

Can't play four bigs fwd against the fleet footed doggies so Jessie got the chop. Cox inclusion on the back of recent media wraps from TA & Pendles towards the big fella. He has to get a chance with his confidence up.

Bolded 4 needing binoculars to be looking in because are rookies
and our Mr Kirby hes looking in because he's a portly fellow in need of a hug:D

So, currently out due to injury or very limited playing time due to injury;
Elliott
Wells
Degoey
Sinclair
Greenwood
Langdon
Broomhead
Wills
Crocker

Good to see the injury list is long before round 1 begins -_-

If you want to look at the glass being half empty.

Or you could say we only have one long term injury, wells will be given time, Elliot is almost ready, de goey and greenwood are fit and the rest will be ready for round one VFL

No harm in saying it like it is, if Degoey and Greenwood are named you can take them off but from what I've been reading on here they're not

Would like to see Degoey play round 1 if he is fit I think he could have a really good year ahead. Would also like to see Phillips play after going so well in the preseason games.

The club will reward good form. Not sure WHE has done enough to warrant round one selection over Aish as some have suggested.

Think WHE has shown much more than Aish in the JLT. Maybe not on possession numbers, but in how he's used the pill.

FB: Maynard - Schade - Ramsay.
CHB: Howe - Reid - Smith
MID: Crisp - Sidebottom - Adams
CHF: Fasolo - White - WHE
FF: Phillips - Moore - De Goo
R: Grundy Treloar Pendlebury
I/C: Dunn Mayne Cox Greenwood

Largely dependant on injuries. Im not a huge Phillips fan, i think he has brain fades when under pressure, but he was great in the preseason and if there is a case study for a bloke earning a spot off the back of an impressive preseason, it Phillips.

I'd also love for De Goo to be played mostly as a forward this year. He had his best games for the club at the back end of th season playing in the forward line, and i dont think we need him as much in the midfield as we do in the forward line. Could be a real find if he can kick 30 goals this year playing up forward.

No Varcoe? He is in before Mayne, Greenwood & WHE

Dunne had a good record against Cloke. He plays.

Reid is a better reader if the play than Cloke too, so he can match up on him, although I think Trav will be pushing up the ground a lot more- would rather Reid settle across half back to intercept that next kick.

Really don't want to play all 3 of White, Cox and Moore. The Doggies defenders will rebound the ball with ease.

They'll do that regardless of whether the three play.

Think you've got this pretty spot on. They might be tempted to slot White in somehow but his JLT form hasn't been too flash. Schadey has been great but think Dunny gets the rd1 job on T.Choke.
